The time has come to restructure, reconfigure, and otherwise redesignate the bases on this bulletin board. The reasons for this are manifold, the most pressing being that this, the "main base" is being overloaded, other bases are rotting away, and the general feelings of ennui and entropy that have gripped the entire establishment.

Below are my suggestions for the restructuring. As I do not have the final say here, these suggestions may not all be put into effect. However, realize that any divergence from these suggestions will result in a sub-optimal configuration, for which I will not be held responsible.

(I have identified each base by its topic, and not by its name, because I don't care what the names are.)

Main Base: This is good, but I would remove "video games" from the description, as games will receive their own base. This will, as always, be used for anything that doesn't fit into the others.

Celebrity Monologues/Drunk Tank: Replace this with a Video Game base, suitable for discussion of video and computer games of all sorts. How there isn't already a base for this on here is beyond me.

Movies & Sex: I like this. Keep it.

Sports & Music: This is also good.

Comic Books: Not my style, but if everyone likes it, we can leave it that way.

Retro-gaming: I believe that the video game base mentioned above will provide enough space for both retro- and current-gaming topics, so this can be done away with and replaced by -- get this -- a cooking base. I believe there's enough culinary interest floating around among the regulars here to make this a viable base, complete with cooking tips, recipes, etc. If necessary, combine with another topic (as "Movies & Sex", "Sports & Music", "Cooking & [something else]"), but I think it would work. In fact, I, personally, would ensure that it worked.

Politics & Cars: I would do away with this one altogether. There's not enough politics/cars being discussed to warrant a separate base. Funnel this stuff back into the main base.

Hugo Programming: This base is perhaps the current administration's biggest gaffe -- an almost inexcusable blunder of titanic proportions. A HUGO base? A tiny subsection of a tiny subsection of the gaming community? Do what should have been done in the first place, and expand it to be an all-encompassing Interactive Fiction base. Duh!!

Troll Room: Keep this.

Best of JC: Fine.

SECRET BASE: Finish the goddamn game.

There ya go. Whaddya think? YAY? NAY??!

Your suggestions intrigue me. I do give them great weight and will take them under consideration. I do feel that this place has become slightly ... "stagnant."

(It would be nice if it looked different, as well. I am quite happy with the blue, black and silver color scheme, and the logo with the frowny faces that you don't see until you look closely. But still.)

I do like your suggestions, although I do prefer the Hugo base to simply be the Hugo base. But maybe that's just me. The Adventurer's Guild having video game topics is something I was a fan of in case I ever finished another game, because it's easy for someone looking for hints to just request them in the main base.

Thank you for bringing this to the forefront of conversation. I would appreciate all responses to what you have proposed.

OK, probably not. I just have a very hard time removing "traditional" things from this BBS. I am very big into tradition, at least for stuff that I made.

If asked to prioritize the suggestions I've made, in terms of how deeply they will affect my life, I would put the following three changes at the very top:

Drunk Tank -> Video Game Base
Something -> Cooking Base
Hugo -> IF Base

Since it sounds like you're unwilling to expand the "Hugo" base, I suppose you can scratch that from the above short list.

I propose somebody write some goddamned articles on the front page. The front page looks like Jonsey's moms fridge with all of his little brothers articles posted like Report Cards. How long does it take to post a funny picture or ancedote?

Like the other day-
Knuckles has to shower at the fiflthy YMCA down the street. Lets just say the pipes in my home aren't exactly an Irish Spring, more like a scene form Waterworld. Anyhow, everyday I go down there, some freak of nature is popping a boner in the shower or I get stuck in an evolution chart.
There's the chinese guy with his uncircumsized junk, me,- then the 6'7 black guy who looks like he's got a melted box of pudding pops coming out of his groin. I'm no homo, but everyone happens to catch a glance in the shower..

Black guys should diapers in public showers. Christ, it's like watching a great dane or a horse walking around.

I don't know who or what this Knuckles entity is supposed to be. I don't get the gimmick, I don't find him particularly funny, and I'm pretty if I met him in person he'd smell unpleasantly of rotten cabbage and despair. But dammit, the boy's right.

Pretend for a moment, that I have logged out, and revisited this thread to post as "it". Right now, in this fictional scenario, I am begging to be pumped the fuck up.

And, on that note, why the hell aren't the Trotting Krips reviews linked on Baf's page? Is it because the site is never updated anymore? If so, that's sad, because there's a lot of quality reviews by a lot of quality people over there. That having been said, I'm going to slap together a review of J.D. Spy tonight, as it doesn't seem to be reviewed anywhere in the proper IF community. TK has first dibs, if you don't feel like formatting it, it's going to SPAG.

I'm going to become a contributing member of this community starting... now.
