Dear Aspirant:
I am pleased to inform you that your performance on our tests has been outstanding, and that you have been selected to participate in the greatest salvage project of the 21st century: the recovery of artifacts and information from the North American continent.
Remember that your findings will become the property of the North American Salvage Corporation, and their monetary value will be split equally between you and the Corporation. Depending of course on what you find, that value could be quite significant indeed. Your site has been selected, and a fact sheet is enclosed that outlines some of the details of that site, including items of possible monetary value.
To facilitate your salvage project, you will be provided with a Multiple Use Land Explorer (MULE) robot, which you will control through a Local Asynchronous Satellite Hookup. This robot partakes of some very current technology, including cutting-edge Natural/Artificial Intelligence capabilities. In addition, it is equipped with experimental Ingaki time-folding features, though these features are to be used entirely at your own risk, and the North American Salvage Corporation assumes no responsibility for the consequences of such use. The robot has been airdropped to your site, and is programmed with knowledge of its boundaries.
I offer you my enthusiastic congratulations on your admission, and wish you the best of luck in your salvage endeavors. Remember, our success is your success!
Sincerely Yours,
William E. Congreve
President
North American Salvage Corporation

I voted yes, because everybody tries to play them all the fucking time except me, because I can't even make that attempt, so they're playing this shit on *my* goddamn computer when I could be showing them, like, Apartment F209 or something.

Has this poll set a record for most # of votes???
If so, I think we've determined not whether or not RTS SUX, but that people have VERY STRONG OPINIONS about whether RTS SUX!
In that way, I think we've learned a little about life here, and a little about ourselves. And isn't that the goal of any well-meaning BBS?
Good job, Jonsey. We owe it all to you.

I just cast the tiebreaking vote, declaring once and for all that Real Time Strategy games do not in fact suck.
I would have voted earlier but I've been spending too much of my limited free time playing Dune 2000 and Tiberian Sun. I used to enjoy Dune 2 in college and I really couldn't complain about the graphics if I was going to run it on a Packard Bell 386SX. Dune 2000 has slightly better graphics than 2 of course but not too many other differences. Tiberian Sun has more variety in types of missions and both are pretty challenging (for me anyway). I'm not as game savvy as you all but I say while some RTS games do suck, the genre doesn't.

obviously pinback is an idiot

Of course there aren't 87 active users here. Pinback should realize that more people actively discuss Johnney 5 than actively post on this board. Many of the "registered users" are merely gimmick names meant to be funny at one point in the discussion and lots of past users have apparently become bored and forgotten about this site.Mathmagician wrote:16 is half of 87?
