Moving companies.

Does anyone have any recent experience with nationwide moving companies, or recommendations thereof?

You move items to Japan, they never leave. My signed copy of Banzai Bug demo from sound designer Gerald Banzai was left on a crate before I moved for my sabbatical and I can't get it back.

Sorry again to hear of your uncle's death, it is quite shameful!

Well, I wanted to see if you were going to leave if times got a little difficult and things weren't perfect.

You have failed this test.

Just for that?

You're now down to two cats.

Wanna try for one?

(Well... not you. Ask Dayna.)

Well, it will be difficult to see you go, what with how clutch you are at picking people up from airports.

Suck me.

I used to think that living in New York is what made someone a giant douchefuck, but now I see all you have to do is cross the state line.

I'm sure there is some fantastically hilarious subterfege to your post there, pal, but I wasn't able to get it as I was trying to find someone whose schedule from 11:30pm -- 1:30am MST last night didn't include "masturbation, being drunk and drunkendly masturbating."

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY JEWISH FOE.

Fine. You wanna air this out publicly?

I was asked yesterday evening, on the spur of the moment, due to others' lack of organization, planning, and financial responsibility, to take 3+ hours out of my life to go driving around all over Colorado in the middle of the night, playing chauffeur between Denver International and Ft. Collins, both targets at least an hour from my home.

Naturally, I didn't want to do this. So I suggested that the parties involved explore every other reasonable avenue for getting this done. Like, for instance, what a normal person might do. Find a shuttle. Get a cab. Take a bus. You know, things that wouldn't involve your supposed friend burning petrol until at least 2 in the morning.

But at the end, I made it very clear that, if no other possibilities were available, I'd do it.

I didn't hear back, so I assumed another, more reasonable, conscientious, friendly alternative had been found.

Wake up to find that I'm now the target of a ridiculous smear campaign from people who:

1) Did NOT take me up on my unbelievably kind offer to perform the task, if necessary.

2) Apparently believe that if someone (who they apparently perceive as their lapdog, rather than a friend) wasn't jumping for joy at the prospect of doing any goddamn thing they asked him to do, he's a scum-sucking snail, not fit to be cooked on Iron Chef during tonight's Battle Escargot.

Oh, meanwhile, I'm taking care of these people's cats for a week and a half, allowing them (the cats, not the owners) to stink up my house and rip apart my new furniture, all the while enduring their (the owners', not the cats') drunken, late-night IM missives informing me what a fucking spineless wimp and a loser I am for moving to Arizona, a move I'm doing primarily to care better for my grandparents, who have just suffered the loss of their last remaining son.

Are these the actions of friends? Are these, even, the actions of decent people?

Can somebody tell me how I ended up the bad guy in this scenario?

Lapdogs don't drive. They can't reach the pedals.

I had nothing to do with this airport thing. I was trying to cook not ONE, but TWO Indian meals for my family and had no clue anything was going on until I set the food on the table and Robb did not appear, like a cat at the sound of a can opener, salivating at the Kashmiri chicken as he normally does.

The moving to Arizona thing, well, perhaps if you recalled conversations better, you'd remember that LAST TIME you were there you came back and had nothing but rather negative things to say about how your family treats each other and how they use guilt to manipulate each other, and then surprise! you're moving there, out to the middle of nowhere, all of a goddamn sudden, and I'm supposed to believe suddenly that this is the result of careful thinking and planning, and not guilt, avoidance, and a string of disappointment as far as the female population of Boulder goes? I lived there, remember? Place is a shithole.

And leave my cats out of it :(

Nobody wants to pick people up from the airport. That's why it's "taking people to the airport" and not "taking people to the brothel." Course, I still happily did it for you when it was a four-hour round trip from the time I left my house till the time I got back.

Anyway, FWIW, my brother had a ride from his roommate, but his roommate's flight got cancelled. So he's stranded at the airport. He gets in at 11:35 and all the shuttles to Fort Collins stop going at 11:00.

Oh, right, also we decided to ask you because you didn't exactly have to be up for work in the morning. I'm sorry if you feel that's outrageously poor form for people, but even in Arizona people are going to ask their unemployed pal for rides to the airport and whatnot before people who have to actually work. Hey, when I was off two weeks ago I made the trip. Why not? It sucks for everyone involved and I was just happy to take my share of the shit sandwich.

If you want to move to Arizona, go right ahead. My opinion of it is colored by Dayna's worthless ex-boyfriend but I wouldn't give you a hard time for heading out there to console your grandparents. In fact, I haven't done just that, until technically now, which I am sorry for.
