I am big into the NFL.

I signed up for DirecTV service today (note to rest of humanity: cable sucks), and they were having a few specials going, one of which made it CHEAPER for me to subscribe to the "NFL Ticket" package than to not to. So I said, "Okay, sure."

So now I can watch every NFL game in the world.

WHICH ONES SHOULD I WATCH!?!?!?

This week

Early games:

49ers at Saints (main game)
Bills at Dolphins (the thing you flip to when the main game is on a commercial)

Later games:

San Diego at Oakland (main game)
Tampa Bay at Philly (etc)

Luckily, the MNF game, and the SNF game both fucking suck. Directv is one of the greatest inventions of humankind, and I am glad you now have it.

Here's my thing with the NFL Ticket.

Its a great idea if you're a big fan of an out-of-city team. IE, RobB living in Denver and seeing 'Aints games. Makes sense.

I've had the NFL Ticket for 5 years running now, and I still find myself watching the "local broadcast" games more than the dish ones. Of course, I'm a Bills fan, and thats what we get.

Conversely, I DO get to watch the Green Bay / Washington game now, instead of Tampa / Philly. And I was able to keep switching over to the Denver / KC game, which was interesting. But it wouldn't kill me to watch just the local games. I dont know if I'll keep overpaying for it.

(Of course, getting the NHL Ticket also makes it all REALLY expensive... I need to start weeding down my services a bit!)

Yeah, as this was my first year with Directv, they made that offer to me, so I'm really paying only a few bucks more than I would if I just had Directv and no "The Ticket." I can see how it would sting if you were paying that *and* your Directv bill.

With Fox not forcing Dallas on us like CBS did every damn week (because the Cowboys suck so much) they've been able to go after the other matchups for the non-local games. Aside from the Saints aspect of it, having insurance that I never have to watch another goddamn Cowboy game against my will is pretty much worth it. With the Saints being good this year they've been the national game out here a couple times already, but all it takes is one skid or slide and they will be regulated to the worst announcing crew and the last available option as quickly as possible. Directv is like bar insurance. Or, more like "not having to roll out of bed and go to a bar swimming in your own night's stink" insurance.

Hey, Ben, did you watch any NFL games today? If so, which ones?

I broke three bones yesterday fighting crime and am in a complete body cast so maybe you could be nice to me and talk about football for a little bit, I am just saying is all.
