Driving.

Post by pinback »

Look, a poll! The question is this:

You have to get from Point A to Point B. There are two routes you can use, the surface street route, or the highway route. Now, in this case, the highway route actually takes longer to get there, but you have the comfort of not having to stop/start/stop/start all the time at the lights and intersections of the surface route.

Which route do you choose?
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Need more data before choosing.

What condition are streets/ highway? Major potholes, ect..

Time of day. Rush hour on X-way? Is it dark time outside?

Relative safety of surface streets? Driving through North Greece or Joseph Ave? Bullet proof glass in H2?

These are some of the burning questions that didn't get answered when they bought that stupid car ferry..

I just got my license. I much prefer highway driving! There is less to worry about.

My preference:

1) Surface streets if through neighborhoods. I love looking at people's houses.

2) Highway otherwise, because you can crank music as loud as fuck and drive with the windows down and it feels great. Especially good through deserts. I hate driving through downtowns with lots of cars, because I like to look around and someday I'll hit a pedestrian and then I won't be driving.

Depends on the circumstances. I drive to/from work every day through the city in stop-n-go traffic. 20 minutes to go 7.5 miles. I could take the highway, but it would take me a lot longer and put far more miles on the car. On the flip side, I would not take the same route late at night...some areas aren't very savory.

Other than that, I don't actually do much driving. I live in an area where just about everyplace I need to go is within a 5-10 minute walk. As such, I only put about 7000 miles on my car per year.

I like the streets, that way I can stop off for some savory greenery.
