Tell me if I am being stupid.

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

I was thinking of paying $79 to take a six-week class on OpenGL programming from these guys:

http://www.ed2go.com/cgi-bin/oic/newcrs ... ith^OpenGL

Please excuse the thirty-foot old broad on the page there.

Am I being stupid for considering this? It's not accredited, but I don't really care all that much. I am taking classes currently for college and having real deadlines motivates me. I've otherwise poked around OpenGL books and not amounted to getting much done. Having someone to ask questions of who is more or less obligated to answer me would be cool, too.

Does this place look like a scam? I can't find many opinions on them.

Let me extropolate! I think that if you're going to take a course from nowhere university or whatever that is you might as well just buy the book they require and read it on your own. If you can handle it save your bucks. Also, OpenGL? They still use that?

Sorry, my fault entirely

Sorry about that.

I forget how these cubical walls allow for very little privacy.

Now back to my TPS report.

I forgot the damn warning on that one.

Have you ever tried to learn DirectX? It took me a frigging week to get the a black fullscreen and a joystick moving around the cursor. Opengl allows you to do it almost instantly. INSTANTLY, WORM. Here's a quick test on which might be better, then:

A) Instantly
B) A week

... Answer... even though "B" has "A" in it, that is not the answer! The answer is just plain "A."

They still use OpenGL. Jesus, man, it's not like I was thinking of taking a class on the 6502.

Well it's not like I haven't done it before. I taught myself Inform. And Hugo. And TADS. And C. And C++. And LISP. And SKILL. And TCL.

But man, it would be inviting to have someone responsible for me learning it. I don't know. Also, I found out that the money isn't a huge deal as my, ah... this is going to come off poorly, but what the hell. My parents have taken an interest in my education. They said they'd cover the $79 for a birthday gift. I know it makes me sound like I'm 13 to say that, but they are so happy that I am not going to end up a homeless crooning bum that they offered to take a stake in my education and fuck y'all anyway, I bet some of you had your parents pay for your college and mine never did, you lousy hypocrites you all make me sick to my fucking soul.

Er, anyway. The Internet has failed me, and I can't find anything negative about their little company, ed2go. So I guess I'm gonna start it up!

The rest of the thread can be used to settle scores and for cheap shots.

Only 79 bucks? what kind of computer class is only 79 bucks?

I never paid less than three hundred for any of my CNC night courses. I must have gotten ripped off! BALLS! Of course, If I didn't learn it right the machine tools would have happily remove my fingers. Safety is good. Will you get some Certified thing so you can hang it proudly on a wall (or cubicle)?
