Comp Discussion Board?

Post by Merk »

Was there ever a private IFComp 2005 spoilers board made here? If so, can it be made visible now? :)

Well, everybody who wanted to discuss the competition entries. At the start of the comp, it was going to be made. But then Ellison told me on the ifMUD that he thought it probably wasn't ever created. So I'm not sure. Just, if there was discussion going on, now would be a good time to open it up to everyone! :)

Yeah, when the chief activist for it was unable to talk about the games I sort of didn't go further with it. But we can all talk about them now. Who wants to start?

Thanks! In a way, 4th is good because if I had made the top 3, I had decided not to enter again (at least not next year). Now I can! :) I'm also happy to have gotten an average score higher than 7.0. It wasn't *too* close between 4th and the 2nd/3rd tie, but I like to imagine I only missed out by a little.

My favorite of the comp was "Beyond". I expected it to place lower than it did, despite this, but the judges liked it too. Second favorite was "Chancellor", and I'm on a compaign to get people to reconsider it. It's really a great game, but not everybody picked up on it due to a longish intro, unclear objective in the second bit, and no hints/walkthrough. I liked Vespers too -- it was my third for Miss Congeniality and a good choice to win.

What did you all think about this year's crop?

I haven't played any yet, but I'll be sure to give those you suggested and yours a try.
