Well, I've had an evening now to sleep on this and sober up on this and give it a little more analysis. All I can say is:

I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW ABSOLUTELY GODDAMN STUPID AND RIDICULOUS THIS WHOLE THING IS!!!!!!!!!!!!

As dumb as it seemed last night, it is TENFOLDly dumb now, even despite the fact that "tenfoldly" isn't a word, much less an adverb.

Jesus EFFING Christ.

Really. Huh. I think that your refusal to admit how stupid it is for car companies to rip off classic rock songs for coporate greed makes YOU look ridiculous, buddy.

What do you mean you can't hear me? Dammit, this is *important*. Get serious, for Christ's sake! Do you or do you not find it absolutely ridiculous that the Clash (the band) are being defaced in this way? A simple question that I'd like an answer to.

I don't care. I never listened to the Clash, so I wouldn't recognize the song if I heard it in the first place.

Snuggle Fabric Softener could steal "Killing in the Name" and I wouldn't care.

It's a goddamn TELEVISION COMMERCIAL. This is what's important to you?

(And just for the record, this issue is not what caused all the tumult. This is just how the discussion started.)

Not that I ever was any sort of fan of the Clash, and I'm not sure if a Clash fan separates Joe Strummer's actions from the rest of the band, but I saw dude perform at Summerfest, Milwaukee's most-commercialized, corporate-sponsored, and lowest-common-denominator event. I'm not saying that I haven't seen good bands play there, but it would never be under the pretense that their music means anything special.

JESUS CHRIST!!! Who the hell IGNORES the Clash and pretend to be even mildly INTERESTED IN MUSIC?!?!?! WHAT THE GOODDOAJDNM HELL??

I don't believe you. I really ... I really CAN'T believe you. I can't believe that you're going to sit here and be that obtuse. When you're ready to discuss this like AN ADULT then let me know.

It's OK, Ben. I'll still be your friend, as long as you keep supplying the booze.

And a hooker every now and then would be nice.

You could be the first person to have sex with a hooker on a mainframe computer.

Or more likely, you'd be the first person who has used a mainframe computer and later gone on to have sex.

Ba dum dum!! Thank you!! I'll be here all night! Tip your waitresses.

I doubt it.

But wouldn't it be great to see the faces of the guys back in Poughkeepsie when they get the IS back....

If hookers get thrown into the equation, I'll be your friend, too. I like blondes. Or redheads. Either one is cool, PAL.

I do not like the men on this spaceship.

They are uncouth, and fail to appreciate my better qualities.

I think such a cutthroat attitude on the fucking internet is nonsense. I could understand if I consoled in my best friend face to face and all I could get from him was his like for Pie and Cows ... but the fucking internet? People take the internet all to seriously. It is basically make believe and people get to hard ass about it. Like back in UO how you'd get threatened with death for taking a guy's fucking dagger of vanquishing. Or how saying I think Power Puff Girls is a dumb as shit fucking show can get you perma-banned from any pop-princess-nifty-punk-rock IRC room you enter.

Well, our emails to each other were pretty much identical to our RL discussions, and I probably would have said similar things straight to his face. I don't apologize for my views on matters such as these.

I just figure if I can get along with a guy with whom I hate his goddamn RELIGION, because we still both like roller coasters and have a good sense of humor, that maybe I can have a goddamn PHILOSOPHICAL disagreement with Clash, and he won't bail on me after ten years.

It's not even a disagreement, is the thing. I don't disagree with HIS viewpoint, I respect it and in many ways admire it. So it wasn't even like an argument. But he held such (drunken) DISRESPECT for my own viewpoint, that he couldn't bear to be seen with me ever again.

You know what, Clash... Go fuck yourself.

This is UNBELIEVABLE.

I'm still, deep in my heart, expecting to get an email going, "Whoa, I dunno what the fuck I was saying. Sorry, bro, we're boys again, right?" But none has been forthcoming thusfar. I can only draw one of three conclusions:

1. Pools of blood.
2. Large bears.
3. Medium-large bears.

I still think for real life a person cutting off all forms of communication for one thing is a bit much. If he was drunk just give him awhile. He will come around I think. I mean how can someone use the term killfile ... or killfill (Forget what it is) and be serious?

That's true. If he was drunk enough to disown you, he's probably still not sober from that binge yet.

But hey... wait... what's this about religion now? Surely you're a correct God-fearing Christian, aren't you, Benjamin? Benjamin was in the Bible, you know.
