Mike Snyder - Merk on here - entered the IF Competition this year and his game, The Traveling Swordsman, took fourth place. Congrats, Mike!
The winner was Emily Short's Floatpoint. #2 and #3 were The Primrose Path and The Elysium Enigma.
There were two games that had really entering things going on based upon the reviews. Andrew Plotkin wrote a game called Delightful Wallpaper that I want to check out and there was also a game that is apparently like a teen slasher flick... but in text!
I find it more rewarding to play the games after people have ranked them, so I think I'm-a going to go do that. Congrats to all the authors!

Thanks! Some have disagreed, but I think this was a really strong year for the IFComp. There were duds as always, but the great games were really great, and the good ones were really good.
For anybody interested, I've taken to compiling a list of links to review sets here:

The IFWiki IFComp '06 page now has review links too, and I know Brass Lantern collects the ones posted to usenet in a more friendly format (I haven't checked to see if any are already up or not -- looks like not, but probably soon).
