It's a Nevada number. OK, now I am curious, but I am at work. Who wants to call? I did some checking and the number is not an obvious trap or anything. And it doesn't appear spammed to all phpBB boards.

Any takers?

Let's take a look at things from a different angle. Let's say that we are all the Justice League. Pinback and I are the Superman and Batman of this little gathering, going by post count. Bugs is the Green Arrow, because he's guy who picks his shots and hates conservatives. The rest of you can define your own roles.

We have a situation where the two leaders (again, by post count: I am not saying anything else here and I am going someplace with this) are knocked out of commission. Batman and Superman are down, people! It's going to be up to the other members to save the day.

A lot of times, in situations like this, we realize that someone's powers, while normally overshadowed, can actually save everything. With Superman down, let's say the league needs someone who can fly. Fly! Hey, that's what Hawkman can do! He can fucking fly. His natural powers are required and he's a perfect fit here.

How does this relate to what we need to do here?

Well... we need someone to call... and listen ... to the thing at the end of that line. Who is the best listener we have?

It is clearly Lysander.

Lysander, this is your BIG CHANCE! Save the day for us, brother. Don't let us down - the world is counting on you!!!

I heard a garbled voice talking about "Something something foundation."

Bill Gates foundation?

The number is mentioned in this indecipherable thread:

Then a guy called me back and asked me what was on my mind. I asked for Barry. But then I got called into an emergency meeting and had to hang up.

He called back again while I was in the meeting but didn't leave a message.

I guess it's part of a RLG thing.

Whoa, he called you back twice? And did we determine if "barry" was at all involved in either call? Man, what the hell.

What are the odds that another JCer could call the number and get the garbled part nailed down? Hawkman?

Then he left a voicemail, saying he's tired of the crank calls, so knock it off. Which is fine, but the little recording that tells you who it's from sounded like: "New message, from... (long pause...) *sinister, garbled whisper*..." No idea what it says, but it's weird.

I just get some wierd guy's voice saying that 'the foundation is not taking phone calls at this time'. The answer seems to be on some videos in that thread pinner linked to but I'm not sure I care to do that much work.

So perhaps the guy isn't tired at all, but rather want it to SEEM that way. Interesting. Should we let him now that this Barry guy is posting his phone number on the Internet, then? As a public service kind of thing?

Thank you for calling the guy and his foundation. I think it really helped this thread.

Jesuschrist. That's what I get for checking JC when I'm half asleep and then having a day of arrands. What the fucking fuck, SOmething Aweful? How did *we* get involved in this shit? I know one of you assholes is reading this, now show yourself you fucking annonamous coward. Vit: ARG=alternate reality game. There was one I remember reading about when I was in high school --I think EA made it--that had you give them your contact information and they'd call you and send you emails of strange messages and make you not know waht is part of hte game and what is real, it sounded like hte kind of thing you'd have to be a moron to actually sign up for without knowing the players *very* well.

It's kind of like the werewolves game which JC tried except it has a whole bunch of players and doesn't end in complete failure. The forum that pinner linked to seems devoted to such games and even has terms of service that they quote to people.
