I hate mice
The trackball I use at work, an ancient Kensington Expert Mouse 8.0, seemingly died yesterday, so I grabbed a USB mouse. I hate mice. I don't understand how they became the norm and trackballs a freak oddity.
I hate the wrist position, I hate dragging it off the table and resetting it to "center" it, I hate the whole goddamn experience. My company is not exactly in a position to get me a new trackball, as they didn't get me the first one, so I guess I can add that to the holiday shipping list.
Oh - why did the best ... OK, one of the best trackballs in the world get the "Kensington Expert Mouse 8.0" name? It's from the same people that sold tuna fish as "Chicken of the Sea," I would suppose.

I always wanted the keyboard with the trackball built in down below the spacebar. None of the computer places had them and I was too cheap to buy one online. They had them at the workstations at Home Despot when they first opened in the greater Rochester area. Man, did I want to swipe one. I never did tho, which was lucky because the keyboard was of the standard type but the trackball was thru the serial port. Wait here and I'll find a picture of one...

I am bidding on a $1.99 trackball on eBay. I am debating taking the X-Arcade trackball into work. I have to do something, because I hate mice so much. Actually, I should probably go to Best Buy and just get one, I don't know. Maybe I can salvage one working Kensington out of the two damaged ones I have.

You're actually looking at 1.99 for that thing on ebay? Man, I wish I didn't know you well enough to where I could ask you about it and then snipe the auction from you!Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:I am bidding on a $1.99 trackball on eBay. I just wanted to see if I'm more precise with the things. When you get into FPS you have to do a lot of mouse lifting, which isn't very efficient.
Good point Bobby!

It's not actually 1.99. It's a dollar less or a dollar more. I don't want one of the dozens of a-holes I've irritated over the years to ruin it for me.
Secondly, it's just an experiment for work, which does not require a precision killing instrument. I'm just tired of buying a new $80 Kensington trackball every 4 years.
