How can I make your Jolt Country experience more enjoyable

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

As we begin the new year, I'd like to take a step back and ask you - the possibly lurking JC populace - what I can do to make your experience on this site better and more entertaining.

A switch to phpBB 3.0? A "membership drive"? Less arcade shit that none of the people that made this place what it was for the first five years gives a crap about? (As you can see, I am probably the most paranoid about that one. In fact, it deserves its own paragraph.)

I became sickly obsessed with arcade games a couple of years ago, and it's starting to take over my life. On one hand, I know that at least one guy got some information out of one of the game threads (the Spy Hunter one, in fact) but on the other, I know it must be as boring as watching paint dry to others. I am aware and taking requests here, so to speak.

As always, if there is something about this place that caused you to swear it off altogether, let me know. I'm intested in that, too.

Consolidate the number of bases.

Go back to actually using your wit. For starters, change the dry, accurate base descriptions back to something mildly amusing (jesus christ, hopefully this trend doesn't carry to your next game).

Stop trying to be nice (there isn't one thread here that is amusing because everyone decided to get along).

And you call it content, but arn't these threads just people bitching aimlessly because they don't like eachother? Content being a club to the face because everyone else was in a bad mood? Ya... Please, do try to engineer that!

Excellent! I'll start with this thread.

So in your opinion, we would get more posts if there were a single, lone base with a misleading and sarcastic description, and inside it everyone gave everyone else no end of abuse. Aren't you the same guy who had a cow and got driven off when everyone gave you shit for ruining the Werewolf game?

The next game to be released will actually be a text-based re-imagining of the 1995 RTS "Wages of War," if noted mainframe developer Rick Ohllie created it back in 1972. I only have fourteen characters for a string, so dry and succinct is the name of the game!

Anyway, I can't even stay mad enough to finish writing an entire post. I'm willing to accept the revelation that this place lost its edge when I accepted the tenants of dharmawave and learned to love life itself.

the only thing I want is more ambition on my part in order to fill out my posts. I have noticed that anything I write here is either post-it note or memo quality. I was actually hoping for more newspaper editorial column stuff, a-la Lysander, only with paragraph breaks. I continually fail to meet my own expectations. But that really doesn't bother me, which is some kind of catch-22 thing.
Oh and more photo content. Are we, as a micro-cosm, ever going to be able to upload jpegs here? This is a server space issue, isn't it?
( I was going to compare my new zune earbuds with the act of inserting nickels into ones ear canal pictorally, for thats the sensation one has when one wears them.)

Oh my god I know exactly what you mean. They actually abraded my ears to the point where they bled.

I replaced them with a pair of these, which fit beautifully and are the best-sounding earbuds under $50 I've ever used.

I can't believe how many times I mess that one up. I am aware of the difference, I just forget to double check before hitting "post," because I rely on Google spellcheck so much. Of course, it wasn't until recently where someone told me there was a difference between faze and phase.

Then, as one of the site's main contributors in recent days, it shall continue!

I was going to recommend a simple, no-bullshit image host without bandwidth limits, but then I realized I didn't know of one that would work here. WaffleImages fits the bill perfectly, but unfortunately it's limited to use on Something Awful. ImageShack works pretty well, but if too many people view your image in a certain length of time, it is replaced with a "YOU'RE COSTING US TOO MUCH MONEY ASSHOLE" message.

I dunno. Glowfoto works pretty well, I guess, but there's still a ton of shit on the front page.
