You may enjoy ROM CHECK FAIL

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

If you are BEN or AARDVARK (I think some others have seen it already) you may enjoy ROM CHECK FAIL, which is a game that takes graphics from old arcade games and makes an arcade game out of it.

(There is a download link there.)

Each game is only a few minutes in length, and it's easy to setup and load. Believe me, you are busy and you don't have time for this BS, but unlike even 99% of indie games that I do enjoy, I actually played ROM CHECK FAIL on nights #2 and #3, after getting it, because I thought I could do better than my first few attempts.

I will likely never play it again, BUT it is AMAZING. That is really cool. Really really cool.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

This game is cool! I like the instant change from Zelda to Pac-Man to Spy hunter. Now I have to dust off my sidewinder and get serious.

I picked it up a few times after the initial playthrough myself. While understanding that a lot of work went into it, I'd love to see a sequel with some more characters, and maybe more randomness in the layout of the first few levels? Just thinking outloud here.

But he could do an "old PC games" one with Lode Runner and Shamus, an old C64 one with the guy from Impossible Mission and Forbidden Forest, and all sorts of things like that on the same theme.

The top ten games on Jones' list all rolled into one video game. Although I'm not sure how text games and graphic games would cohabit the same wrap.
