I cannot believe he didn't mention Godhand in reference to Beat'em Ups, that game is essentially the first great Capcom Beat'em Up in a long time. I don't count DMC or God of War since they're something far different from Final Fight.

Complaining about SHMUPs is retarded though, there's are few more prolific genres, just because a genre doesn't exhibit mainstream AAA staying power doesn't mean it's dissapearing.

It appears it is easy to forget that there actually were games before Bioshock and Guitar Hero. Or "old" games as an idea are held as a sort of occult reference to be focused and obsessed upon.

The statement appears to be saying "Its not part of THIS CULTURE or THIS GENERATION so it must be crap." But I mean hey, were looking to organizations that have difficulty tracking how say, Dick Cheney has been part of the US Government nigh on thirty years, and there is an expectation of being able to look beyond how, and where, video games have changed and developed?

I just played a game called Xervious for the SNES, and the developers are composed of the people who made Space Invaders. A lineage and progression of how ideas change.

PS I get bonus points for interelating government and video games in a non-obvious way.
PPS Video games are now just another industry.
