Non-Programming Related Request(s)
The (s) is in case I come up with more. I'm reading back through my code and realised that a lot of things need rewrites. Almost all of the main character's dialogue is unusable and I'm pretty much redesigning the most important NPC. None of this matters to any of you. What you CAN help me with, however, is the following:
A hypothetical subculture of young, hyper-aggressive worshippers of the Norse pantheon who listened to some sort of aggressive black metal variant would frequent a club named...

I didn't know if you meant just a club that these guys hung out at, which could conceivably be any sort of Norse reference (Loki's... maybe Low-Key, Ragnarok or RagnaROCK, Hammer, Val's Halla) or some sort of club with a small reference that this particular group chose to adopt as their own. In any case, I was mainly waiting for Robb to jump into this whole-heartedly so I didn't have to.

The former. Basically, the "world design" I kind of envisioned for this is a step after all the sort of Wiccan/Neo-Pagan stuff going on nowadays, where groups of "youths" would essentially adopt whatever ancient mythos suited their personalities and form a subculture around it. So basically, you'd have this group of black metal fans who all talk like a parody of Marvel Comic's Thor mixed with lots of vulgarity and frequently get into drunken brawls. This "scene" would have a club/bar/whatever in the city that was their primary point of congregation. So yeah, something like the ideas you presented, only maybe less pun-tastic. My "placeholder" name right now is "The Beached Longboat".Roody_Yogurt wrote:I didn't know if you meant just a club that these guys hung out at, which could conceivably be any sort of Norse reference (Loki's... maybe Low-Key, Ragnarok or RagnaROCK, Hammer, Val's Halla) or some sort of club with a small reference that this particular group chose to adopt as their own. The RagnaRock is better than anything I can come up with. Which is:
The LoKI-DoKI (a rip off of the CBGB)
Frigging at Frigg's Rigging (Hey, I didn't name the guy Frigg, the Norse did)
Brunhilde's Castle (HAW HAW HAW)
GotterdammeROCK
And if everything else fails, there is always the standby of the 'Liquor Hole' Tavern.

the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
I can't login properly because of the damn computers here where I (in theory) work. But I still wanted to weigh in on the Norse mythology references.
How about Naglfar? It's a ship made out of dead men's fingernails and crewed by rotting corpses; Loki captains it when he escapes from the underworld on the day of Ragnarok.
Helheim is another possibility; it's the realm of the dead (the dead who didn't die gloriously in battle, that is). And it sounds kinda cool.
Are these the sort of references you're looking for? Or were you after something different?

Thanks. There's some would say it's my stock-in-trade. There's also some would say that useless trivia is all I'm good for.PTX comes through with the esoterica!
With that in mind -- and also that I've been awake for a long, long time without the benefit of caffeine, let me toss this hideously cheesy idea out:
"Naglfar Bar & Grill"
You may now commence heckling.
