I will confess that the reason I got into it was because of my new phone.Flack wrote:How do you follow somebody's Twitters -- through the site, through e-mail, or through your phone?
The thing has a number of icons on it, so I can just press 'em and get CONTENT. So I press "TwitterFon," and see the stuff that's been posted last. I do tend to type my own in through twitter.com, because fighting against the 140 character barrier is easier on a PC.
It would DEFINITELY suck if I did this any other way. If I were getting the messages sent like text messages, that would irritate the hell out of me. If I had to go to a website to read them each time, it would irritate me. But accessing Twitter when I'm standing in a line or something is cool, and it helps that I managed to follow a few funny people. (The big cliche is that people use Twitter to say when they are going to the can or something.)
As a way to say something funny or interesting in a BITE-SIZE CHUNK, I think it's a success.

I love that the third page of registration tries really hard to make me "follow" this preselected group of twitts. Isn't twitter ashamed to make us unselect the entire list? I would throw up if I had to read twitters from most of these people:

OK, ICJ I'm following you & roody now.
CO, it is sometimes slow, and sometimes prone to downright crashing - they apparently haven't figured out how to make money off it yet and thus don't have the servers to support its huge popularity. I still use it on and off, but usually pretty inanely.
You shouldn't need to re-log-in to search for people, though - you might have been on during a time of one of the typical buggy slow-downs.

Ha, I was like, whoa, a name I don't recognize is following me (and it doesn't even look like some kind of spam account)! Did some googling, saw the page with the Adventure Creation Kit link, and figured it out.
Anyhow, I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of Twitter myself (and yeah, the site does seem pretty strained sometimes), but I thought I'd give it a spin just to get back in the habit of writing thoughts of any kind down and to have another distraction at work.
I can't say my feed will be that entertaining. No one will ever accuse ICJ of not being a nice guy willing to throw compliments around to his friends.
In any case, your music label stuff looks interesting. I'll definitely check it out.

I didn't come anywhere close to a screen like that when I signed up, but honestly, I'd be fucking glad to give my email address and password to somebody at this point. Let them deal with all the shit I gotta put up with, let them deal with being Robb Sherwin for a few hours. I would imagine I'll get my account restored and a bottle of sympathy wine sent to the house (the address of which they'd scrape from my mail THIS IS NOT FAR-FETCHED)co wrote:So i'm creating a twitter account purely for curosity reasons and on the second page they ask me for my email account password. Are they crazy? Who is the idiot who gives these jokers full access to their email account?

they were asking me to let them check for contacts on other networks, and they kept asking everytime I wanted to search for people. I once let Linkedin import my contacts from gmail and now I've had scammers sending personalized requests to my contact list pretending to be me stuck in africa and needing help. I use my email for a number of e-bills so i've got account numbers and shit in there. I'm really not inspired about the security of a laggy site with too many users and not enough money coming in.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:I didn't come anywhere close to a screen like that when I signed up, but honestly, I'd be fucking glad to give my email address and password to somebody at this point.

Thanks, Roody, I hope you like the music! Yeah, I likewise can't guarantee any substance/entertainment value of my Twitter feed, sometimes it's nothing but replies to other people's twitters, but I keep going back to it. ICJ, I'm 'joshlawrence' there if you're wondering who the hell that is following you.

Haha.
I clicked on a thread about Twitter on another Internet forum, just now. Someone linked to "Dwight from The Office" and I wasn't sure if the poster meant the character or the actor.
The poster meant the actor.
Literally the third tweet down at the moment reads:

When I signed up, it suggested that I subscribe to Trent Reznor and Shaquille O'Neal.CO wrote:I love that the third page of registration tries really hard to make me "follow" this preselected group of twitts. Twitter has jumped the shark already
Ok, Twitter has officially jumped the shark and hopefully will fade away now.

Ok, I'd help ashton reach a million twit followers only if it made him finally drop all the way into the acid tank like in Untraceable:cnn news update wrote:Twitter race between Ashton Kutcher and CNN narrows
