The crepe video will be delayed
Before you scream that I'm ducking out of this, let me explain.
I was filming the video, the last segment is done, and I hit the shutter button. That particular segment was about 8 1/2 minutes.
And the counter stopped advancing. But it didn't release. That isn't good. Typically after 2-3 seconds it releases the clock display, indicating (I suppose) that it has saved the video.
It was frozen with like 00:08:27 on the clock, but the video does continue to show the area where the camera is shooting. So it's not dead. So I try the off button, which beeps when you press it. No beep.
Nothing does anything, none of the control buttons do anything. The light will go on and off, and that's it. So I figure, it's got auto shut-off and if I set it down for a few minutes that will kick in.
I finish cooking the rest of the batter, make a bunch more crepes, then go back and check the camera to see if it has shut down. No soap. So I got only one thing, which I hate to do. Open the battery compartment and kick the batteries. That, of course, shuts it down. Put them back in, start it up.
Starts up okay, and it does have several pieces of video, but I can't tell which is which; I'll need to review them.
I have a suspicion it never saved the last video. Fucker bastard knew that was a - or rather, the - critical segment so it locked itself down, intentionally. The camera seems okay, I just think it knew that this was a really important video so it locked up on me.
I have to go over to my sister's place tomorrow, she needs tech support and is too busy for me to walk her through it over the phone. I tried using remote desktop but she can't figure out how to get to it, I'm on Windows XP, her machine is either Vista or 7, and I can't get her there. I thought I installed VNC to use this if necessary but it's not showing up either. We have Skype but the video isn't clear enough for me to read her screen. So I won't be able to work on it tomorrow.
The crepes were delicious and I'm sorry the video didn't come out, and while I'd just do another batch - I got like 8 of them out of a cup of flour, 2 eggs, a 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of margarine and a pinch of salt - I'm basically full, in fact I had to throw one away because I couldn't eat the last one. I hate wasting food so I don't really want to make them just to throw them away so if the video didn't come out I'll do another batch when I'm hungry again.
Either that will be later today, or, at worst, Monday morning. But I do have two other videos to cut and polish in the mean time. And I need to see what I have and what I will need to reshoot for this one.
Plus I'm a little tired, basically I've just spent four hours doing video of me cooking.
Next time I'll stop more frequently so that the footage is "in the can" and locked down, but Jesus, if I can't even shoot a 9 minute segment without having to worry if it's going to fail, that's not good news.
In fact I worried yesterday something might happen, like I'd drop the camera or something would go wrong, I made sure I have all batteries charged, I took extra care and concern when I carried the camera that I wouldn't drop it, and a few other things to be very careful.
I was surprised, basically everything more-or-less worked perfectly. I should have seen that as an ominous sign that the universe was getting ready to pull my pants down and fuck me in the ass, wheechair or no chair. And it looks like it did, very successfully.

Hey, don't pick on Roger Corman, he was great at making films on next to nothing. One of, if not the greatest filmmaker, James Cameron, referred quite fondly to the time he spent working for him in the background to the DVD for the 20th anniversary of the Terminator as the 'Roger Corman Film School'.AArdvark wrote:Yeah, but we don't want him just slapping any old crepe footage together, like Roger Corman, just to justify his thirty bucks.
I am. I want to be proud of what I've done. I was exhausted after going over to my sister's place and spending all day there. I just kept waking up, taking a leak, lying back down and falling asleep all day, I didn't wake up fully until 6:30 this evening. Maybe I'm dying. What am I saying, I am dying. It might take 40 years or I might drop dead tomorrow but I will eventually die. As will all of you, of course, but you don't have a crepe-making video to finish.AArdvark wrote:Think quality film-making.
I still have to examine what footage I have so I know what I need to reshoot. I ate one ham and cheese hot pocket in order to tide me over long enough to go through the existing footage and see what I lost.
Then I'll make another batch and film that. No sense redoing what's already in the can if it's good work.
And I haven't done anything with the first payment I got, and it does have a 'send refund' link. Which I'm not going to need to use. But I will have this done because I will not eat again until I eat another batch of crepes, and since I'm making them again, I'm going to film it. (Well, it's an electronic file, but you know what I mean.)
But you will get to see this. I have to check the existing video before continuing.

Well, it would be a lot faster if either (1) You tell me what name you want me to list as one of the sponsors (2) You tell me you're still going to contribute but you don't want your name on it (3) You're going to stiff me and not contribute.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Agreed. Jack... what.... what did you mean of that?
CHANCE OF CREPE VIDEO: WARM
If I'm going to put your name in as one of the sponsors I have to know what you want me to put in the video. I can edit the video and produce it up to that point, but to put in the sponsors requires I have names before I can release it. Flack and Ben both told me what they want, what do you want, Jonsey?
