[SC2] Descent To Bronze

Post by pinback »

I made it to Gold League in StarCraft II. This means that I'm better at SC2 than I am at any other video game I've ever played, except for Asteroids.

But it's a very stressful thing, trying to maintain your league status. And I hate it and as stupid a thing as it is, it keeps me from playing the game. THIS game! The only game I've ever loved and also played relentlessly.

So fuck it. The time has come to stop caring, and just start playing for fun. I can't believe that it requires something approaching a 12 step program for people to learn to play a game for fun, but you should know I'm not alone here.

I've never seen it anywhere else, but the SC2 forums are rife with threads with titles like "too afraid to ladder!" "how can I relax?!" "EHEHEEEHEELP!!!!"

This game wrecks people's minds. And it's wrecking mine.

So fuck it. The time has come to stop getting better at SC2.

The time has come to just start playing it, and having fun.

Thank you for listening. I had to say this somewhere, to make it official.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Understood. I will now talk about my problems.

I bought a Donkey Kong high score kit. It's supposed to save the high score. The guy who made the kit clearly states that if you have the 4-board version of Kong, which I do, there's a good chance you will have to desolder the Z80 chip on it, as it won't be socketed.

I took the boards out on Monday night, saw what I thought was the Z80, saw what I thought was a socketed chip and figured, psh, I don't need to desolder anything. I then ordered the kit.

Well, as it turns out I was looking at the wrong fucking chip.

So now I have a kit that needs a chip desoldered, and I am not good enough at desoldering anything to install the kit. Christ.

My high score on real Donkey Kong since it has been here is just 42,000. I am terrible at this game, but it and Alpha Centauri should have been in the top 100.

I must admit, I wrote that in full sincerity, then hopped on SC2, won a game, and was like FUCK YEAH, maggots. Then I quit real quick before I could lose one.

There is no hope. The game wrecks your brain.

COMING UP (SERIOUSLY): PINBACK'S NEW FEATURE: WHY SC2 WRECKS YOUR BRAIN.

It will be amusing.

First I have to finish the other feature though, which I will also do shortly, as long as Tdarcos promises to click on the link in my signature, just one more time.

Understood. There is no easy solution to my problem, so let's change things up and make this a thread about your SC2 issue.

I agree with that. I also want to know what Tdarcos does when he does not visit this site. A new thread?
