Current Standings:
In the race to get creamed by Miami, Boston's win over the 76'ers takes the series to 2-1 in Boston's favor.
Miami and the Pacers are tied at 1-1 in round two. Miami needs to regroup after the loss of big Chris Bosh with an abdominal strain.
San Antonio beat the Clippers and are currently 1-0 in the series. Like OKC, the Spurs closed round one out quickly and sat for 8 days while the Clippers only had 1 day off between rounds, and it showed.
YOUR OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER are 2-0 against the Lakers. Currently only the Thunder and the Spurs remain undefeated in the playoffs.

Before we talk about Game 4 between the Thunder and the Lakers, we must talk about Game 3.
The Thunder, up 2-0 in the series, went to LA where the reception was ... not warm. Just as OKC has booed Ron Artest (every time he touches the ball) for throwing the elbow against James Harden, LA fans booed Harden for ... getting elbowed?
Now I don't want to believe this, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Thunder fan, but if there were ever a game that would convince you that NBA games are fixed, this was the one. Time after time, Kobe would come down, push a Thunder player, and the Thunder player would get the foul. And then, this happened:

With Westbrook on the ground, Ron Artest DROPPED A KNEE IN HIS CROTCH. Watch it a few times. No foul for LA.
Kobe Bryant shot 18 of 18 at the free throw line. Even the announcers were questioning the ref's calls.
Check out these two shots by Durant. This is why this guy is awesome.

Despite the battle, LA won, 99-96. This game was CLUTCH for the Lakers to win. So what would happen in game four? Read on, NBA fans!

So here we are -- game 4 in the Thunder vs. the Lakers. Thunder leads the series 2-1, and we're playing in LA. The games were back to back, Friday and Saturday night in LA. Every single sports announcer said this would work in OKC's favor and that fatigue would be a factor for the Lakers.
Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the Lakers. Fighting for their lives and their hometown pride, the Lakers came out swinging. It wasn't long before they were up by 10, a lead they took into the half and maintained for 99% of the game. Lakers go into the 4th leading by 9, and at the beginning of the 4th, are up by 13.
Then, the Thunder woke up.
Down by 7, Westbrook hit a layup and got the +1 on a foul, closing the gap to 4. The ball goes back and fourth a few times, and the Thunder cuts it to 2. Down by two, Durant gets fouled and ... MISSES BOTH FREE THROWS. IN THE PLAYOFFS. YOU CANNOT DO THAT, DURANT!!!
A botched shot by the Lakers leads to another fast break and the Thunder ties it up with a put back by Perkins.
With about 20 seconds left on the clock, Gasol threw a lazy pass which was intercepted. It's Kevin Durant with the ball, tie game, 13 seconds left. And Durant does this:

I want you to watch that at least once and notice how much of a bad ass Kevin Durant is. He doesn't even throw a fist into the air. He just nails a three from a few feet outside the three point line and walks away.
Westbrook nailed two more free throws, putting the Thunder up by five with seconds left to go. Kobe hit a 2 at the end, but it wasn't enough. Thunder win, 103-100, and are up 3-1 in the series. Game 5, OKC, Monday night.

Elsewhere in the league ...
Yesterday wasn't LA's day for basketball. The San Antonio Spurs, down by 22 (yes, 22) made a playoff-worthy run and came back to beat the Clippers, 96-86. The Spurs remain undefeated and the series is at 3-0.
The 76ers beat the Celtics in game 4 of their series, tying it up 2-2. The Celtics were favored in this series, so the 76ers win was pretty surprising.
The Miami Heat, who should have smashed the Pacers, are down 1-2 in that series. The Heat are publicly folding. This is the biggest story in the east.

Last night the Spurs closed out the Clippers in 4 games. The Spurs are now the only team in the finals to remain undefeated. The Spurs will face the winner of the Thunder/Lakers series in the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder are 3-1 in that series, and face the Lakers tonight.
The Miami Heat have tied up the series, 2-2 ... but don't rule the Pacers out just yet! The Celtics/76ers series is also currently tied 2-2.

I missed a couple of days, but the Celtics/76ers are now tied 3-3! It's neck and neck, folks! Saturday night, who will advance to get slaughtered by the Heat will finally be decided!
Speaking of the Heat, they lead the series 3-2 against the Pacers. Game 6 is tonight.
Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and YOUR OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER begins Sunday night.

I've been on a boat unable to update this thread, so let's do a bit of time traveling.
The Boston Celtics, who everyone said would get swept by Miami, are currently 3-2 in the eastern conference finals.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, who everyone said would get swept by the (then) undefeated San Antonio Spurs, are currently 3-2 in the western conference finals.

Simmons is such a fucking cunt. The fans were so shell-shocked that many (including me and my father) filed out with three minutes remaining, not because we were lousy fans, not to beat the traffic, but because we didn't want to be there anymore. We wanted to get away from LeBron. He ruined what should have been a magical night. We never really had a chance to cheer, swing the game, rally our guys, anything. He pointed a remote control at us and pressed "MUTE." It was like being in a car accident. LeBron James ran over 18,000 people.
"We're not bad fans! Not really! Here's an excuse as to why!"

In the after game award ceremony for the Thunder, you could barely hear the announcers as the crowd was cheering so loud. After the Miami game, the crowd was nearly silent. It was like even the Miami fans weren't into it. I did hear that Celtics fans were walking out on their team which is sad, but in the last minute the Celtics starters came off too which I thought was pretty bad. To be fair, if your starters come off the field when you're down by 10 or so I think that gives you license to leave too.
So, Tuesday night, it will be YOUR Oklahoma City Thunder vs. the Miami Heat in the 2012 NBA playoffs. I think either team has a good chance of winning -- obviously I hope OKC pulls it out, but when James, Wade and Bosh are hot like they were in games 6 and 7, they will be difficult to stop.
The big Thunder news on Facebook today was the following Seattle headline: "OKC steals win from Texas after stealing team from Seattle". Ouch.

God, I would love to see Durant stick his arm straight into the cocks of those three douchebags.
The thing with Simmons is: a fan base is too large to make any meaningful generalizations out of them. Sure, we like to say that Philly fans are psychos, that Buffalo fans are mad all the time and that Jaguar fans exist. But you can't do that.
So when you have a smug piece of shit like Simmons try to make the argument that, no no no, Boston fans are different, he then digs the hole deeper when they do shit like EVERYBODY ELSE.
Like leave early.

Folks, here we go. The 2012 NBA Finals, featuring YOUR Oklahoma City Thunder vs. the Miami Heat.
Trivia Fact: This is the first NBA finals to feature two teams with non-plural names (Thunder/Heat).
Tonight was the night of giants. The Heat: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh. The Thunder: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden. There was a time when one star could take you, if not through the playoffs, at least get you there. Now, it takes three.
In the first quarter, the Thunder's defense seemed confused. Every time they collapsed under the hoop, the Miami punished them with threes; at one point in the first quarter, they were six of seven in three pointers. The Thunder went down by five. Then ten. Then fiften. Then eighteen.
Then, they figured it out. They charged the rim. They drove to the hoop. They split the defense. And they chipped away at the game one point at a time. Point, by point, by point.
At half time, the Thunder were down by 7.
By the end of the third, they were up by 1.
Then came the fourth. Soon, they were up by 3. Then 5. Then 8. Then 10.
The Thunder beat Miami by weathering the three point storm, frustrating James, and shutting down Wade.
Final score: Thunder 105, Heat 94. Game one goes to YOUR Oklahoma City Thunder. Thunder up, people!

Yup. It's too bad the city of Seattle didn't put as much effort into supporting the Sonics then as they put into hating on the Thunder now.
The biggest weasel in that deal was Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, who sold the team to a group of billionaires in Oklahoma and then acted surprised when they moved the team here, especially when they said secretive things like, "after we buy the Sonics, we're going to move them to Oklahoma."

I know, ironically we could be building a stadium for a new team right now but Seattle does nothing but dither and vote and argue about everything for decades until nothing gets done. We've got a developer willing to put up mad money to build a stadium with hardly any public money and we can't even get fully behind that.
I think it's politics that's in the way right now because our fat fuck of a Mayor is behind the proposal (he thinks it will get him reelected) and just about everyone else involved with government hates him and wants him to fail. The port authority operates a deep water port in the same area and is claiming that traffic from third stadium in the area will keep them from creating some ridiculous number like 100k jobs in the next decade. It's pretty obvious that it's a bullshit objection meant only to torpedo the proposal and hurt the mayor.
