It totally changed the user interface, it totally changed how the game is presented, it even totally changed some things about the in-game interface and the graphics.
I know I've criticized the SC2 community before for being "complainers", for being "whiny bitches" who just took any patch, any tiny little modification as an opportunity to bash the game, bash Blizzard, and basically turn the entire official forum into a cryfest a daycare center would be ashamed of.
But I gotta say, with 1.5.0, a pretty massive change, the community has really surprised me. They've learned the reasoning behind the changes, learned to adjust to them, taken a very thoughtful stance on analyzing the new patch, and have decided to become complete and utter dicks the likes of which I've never experienced in my life.
There are people in there DEMANDING THEIR $60 BACK.
They paid their $60 OVER TWO YEARS AGO!!! SC2 was released on July 27, 2010. This is like the millionth patch so far, in a gaming landscape where most games are already out of the bargain bin and lost to history by this point. And they're doing this to GEAR UP for the next installment in the series, which is going to have even more content, even more shiny shit, even more of all of this.
But 1.5.0 just goes to show "Blizzard is EA now". And I want my $60 back.
I used to be addicted to the SC2 forums. Now I just go there once every month or two, to see if it's the same. It usually is. Depending on the week, everyone still complains that Terran is either woefully underpowered or woefully overpowered, usually at the same time.
This one's special though. Gimme my $60 back, indeed.
I don't care how much of a debacle D3 was, SC2 still rules. Thank y'all for stickin' around.
SC2 1.5.0 has been released.

Going to sue for your $60 back?
Eh... Whatever - its common knowledge that Blizzard is trying to bolt on "pay to play" features haphazardly throughout their products; they just committed the brain dead maneuver of making the product everyone paid for, that much more harder to access. Which is funny, because I remember Battle.net being a response to third party services such as Kali and Heat.net that added another layer of complexity to online play.
After the response to DIII being lukewarm and now that they are moving forward with these obvious money grabs, its doubtful that Blizzard will have much of the good will left to it that it harvested from the days when they weren't complete dicks.

PS This whole thing makes me laugh actually, since I've been fighting their interface and "feature set" since from launch when it took them four or five patches to properly enable offline play in SCII.

Oh, please. Fuck you. SC2 is still an awesome game, and judging by what's coming in HotS, it's only going to get extremely better.
It's so fucking easy to dismiss an entire company/development group because some dickhead in the marketing/sales group said, hey, instead of them being able to play Starcraft, right away, let's (in 1.5.0) put a big button that says STARCRAFT that they have to press before playing it. Fine, go ahead and do that while you're sipping your melted asparagus gelato or whatever the fuck you're into nowadays.
Bash away all you want, you dicks. SC2 is still the only game I, and countless others, still have any fun playing, except for the occasional Flash game during work which we're all embarrassed about. Jesus.
Anyway, yes, 1.5.0 is a pile of crap (although things do run faster, which is nicer), and no, I don't want my $60 back, and yes, SC2 is still the best game in the world, and fuck all y'all.
SEE YA IN CLOUD KINGDOM.

The UI is different, more convoluted, and more geared toward making you play "ARCADE" games, which are games created with the SC2 engine which are not, technically SC2.
On the one hand, the Tron lightcycle game someone built is the best game in the universe. On the other hand, I don't like having to click a "STARCRAFT" button after I loaded up Starcraft so I can play Starcraft.
