In the version of phpBB I run, in the Admin Console under General Admin there's a button to Backup the Database. There's also an option there to restore the database as well. If you didn't want to restore an entire database, I'm guessing it would be pretty simple to strip out just one sub-forum and import it somewhere else. You can also do all of this manually, using phpMyAdmin on the host.

I'm sorry that there was confusion about the state of the Hugo and ACK forums. They will always be here and at this address. They will never, ever go away. I will never delete a thread on this forum and I will never close this forum or stop people from being able to reply to threads.

I'm sorry everyone hates the color scheme. I will change it back.

I need a few months away from BBSs. I will return by the beginning of 2013. Pinback may talk about deleting, removing, destroying, infecting, suspecting, belaboring, skull-fucking and interstate-trucking posts on here, but that will never really happen.

You do realize, that if Jonsey has said he wants this message area to remain up, and you go ahead and delete it, that that represents the felony crime of destruction of a computer system? Accessing a computer beyond one's authorization or acting beyond the instructions of the owner or their agent is a felony. It's a computer crime. In every state, and since this computer is accessed in interstate commerce, it's a federal crime as well as a state one.

Hopefully you want to consider this, although you might be lucky, if you continue despite instructions to the contrary, to just get probation instead of prison time.

Yeah, this slop has no way to go to the last posts in a given thread. phpBB2 sucks.

Here's the issue though - getting your db from php itself DOES NOT WORK because it times out everywhere. I can also not get a good backup from my web host.

So I need to find a solution so we can go to phpBB3. Honestly, at this point, I'd pay for vBulletin if they could concert the rows and tables correctly. I hate phpBB with a fucking passion.

I am with this host until April 2009, but come December I plan on taking a few days off and coming up with a modern-day solution to the BBS. So, er, if you are still with us here then, you at least have that to look forward to!
