"Sitting out a meme".
Jesus, what a terrible article. And he's not even around to discuss it, and he doesn't even want to discuss it. He just wants to type angrily into the internet and then run run run away.
Embarrassing.
Embarrassing.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

You can't see it because it has to be moderated, but I posted a comment. I said, "Hey, Jonsey, you forgot to tell us if you want cheese with your whine."pinback wrote:Jesus, what a terrible article. What frosts my ass over all of it is he didn't once come close to spelling the name of the goddamn song right.
If you're gonna bash something, not even getting right what your bashing just makes you look like a red-assed, cranky old bitch.
Is that what you are, Robb? A CRANKY OLD BIT-- oh right

I can relate to some of his point. In real life, when talking to somebody that I barely know and they break out some internet meme in conversation, I instantly feel a bit sorry for them.
There are other strictly-internet memes like headdesk and facepalm that annoy me enough that I've configured at least one of my apps to omit lines that contain them.
That said, there was something about that post that creeps into "cranky old bitch" territory.
While I can imagine links about Gangnam Style are annoying, this is also something I completely can't relate to, as I haven't come across even one yet (except for news stories about that guy that I have chosen to read).
Internet culture can be annoying since it seems to perpetuate this notion that internet culture makes for a balanced life (which it obviously doesn't), but I dunno, there are places on the internet where you won't have all of that crap rubbed in your face.

I saw your stupid fucking comment, you retarded, cum-eating gasbag. It was just as jaw-droppingly moronic in yellow as it was shunted over Wordpress. (Since Wordpress isn't written in C, it does text strings well, which is why it came through OK.)Tdarcos wrote:You can't see it because it has to be moderated, but I posted a comment. Oh yeah, I'm going to take a pseudononymous comment by an obvious idiot seriously. (If Jonsey wanted to insult me, he has a login and can authenticate himself.) I'm not retarded, I don't eat cum, and I'm not a gasbag. Get your facts right, don't just parrot obvious stupid shit you hear from the other cretinous reprobates like yourself over at Caltrops that is completely wrong and misstates everything 180 degrees from reality.ICJ wrote:I saw your stupid fucking comment, you retarded, cum-eating gasbag.
And you're just as insipidly sub-idiot in black and white, I don't particularly care what a less-than-human pseudo entity that's not even as intelligent as a chimpanzee like you has to say. As Jack Nicholson said in As Good As It Gets, "Go peddle crazy someplace else, we're all full up here."It was just as jaw-droppingly moronic in yellow as it was shunted over Wordpress.
No kidding, apparently you've been reading what I said in the Hugo base, when I pointed out that PHP has good string processing.(Since Wordpress isn't written in C, it does text strings well, which is why it came through OK.)
For one thing, you never gave one word to explain why you thought my comment was wrong, all you could so was spew obscenity-laden insults and ad-hominem attacks. Your inability to engage in intelligent discourse proves your incompetence and intellectual capacity of less than a dog, not merely to the standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty" required for a criminal conviction, but "beyond a shadow of a doubt and to an absolute certainty."
Please kill yourself quickly, your very existence makes not just the earth, but the entire Milky Way Galaxy measurably stupider. You're an intelligence black hole, you suck it out of the environment to a place where it cannot escape.

I agree. When I hear someone's picking up some Internet Meme, I know they've gone off the rails. All their base is belong to someone else.Roody_Yogurt wrote:I can relate to some of his point. I don't know pinback, maybe you just didn't relate to it. When I read the part quoted below his rabble-rousing started to grab me and pull me into the riotous protest.
I feel partially responsible for encouraging the beginning stages of it years ago in irc when it seemed new and fun to break up the monotony. But while I got tired of it pretty quick I guess a younger crowd took it and ran with it and passed it on to even younger crowds. They remind me of that phase toddlers go through when they will watch the same extremely annoying movie over and over and over, all day if you let them, and every day for a month, if you let them.
I have seen this retarded baby-talk/leet-speak taken to its most extreme forms in irc over the years. It is practically a whole new language. I usually go afk or shut irc off when a channel i like gets overrun with these idiot trolls and spammers. I have felt exactly how ICJ sounds in that quote on more than one occasion.Every third tweet, every random link is some tedious motherfucking shithead going hgluahglua about GANGHAM STYLE!!!!!!DERP!
I don’t fucking care, I don’t fucking care, it sounds fucking stupid, I don’t fucking care. I don’t want to be one of you any more. I hate you all and wish you would shut the fuck up.

You know you're getting old when you discover memes about the time they're over. I didn't hear about this Gangnam thing until it was on SNL, and let's face it, by the time something appears on SNL it's usually dangerously near Jump the Shark territory. After figuring out the guy's name I went back and watched the video on Youtube (the horse heads on SNL made slightly more sense). I checked Youtube over the weekend and saw there's a hundred or so knock offs now, with (no doubt) more to come.
I don't know. The fact that my 10 year old was running around this weekend saying everything was Gangnam style tells me it's probably already played out by this point.

"I failed a savings throw and now I am back."
I actually still don't know what it is. I shut down about the same time my FB feed started looking like this:
"ERMEGERD!!!!"
"FEERD WENT FERD MAGTERRD"
"MERDERR MY GERRD"
I remember the time when somebody told me to do some salvia, because it's legal and cheap. I looked up some videos of people on salvia, and they just looked mentally disabled. Why people embrace anything that makes them look retarded is incomprehensible.
