The Retro Multiplayer Gaming thread!

Post by RetroRomper »

Pinback and the Happiness Engine expressed a desire to try and get a game of Moon Base Commander going: I say we take this a step further and schedule one retro gaming session a week!

First we gotta figure out how to make that work.

How do you make that work?
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Absolutely no idea: I'll screw around with it when I get home later tonight.

In the mean time, how about a backup game?

Maybe Starcraft: Broodwar as a beginning before we move onto the truly obscure stuff?

Well, I do have that one, yes. So does Jonsey! He ran out in the middle of the night to buy it that one time!

I have brood War upstairs in my Box of broken and disused stuff. I could install that, no problem. I even sort of remember how to play.

When is this happening?

Tomorrow at 12 (noon) Pacific?

I need to leave at around 5:15 PM for a gig but I'm available the entirety of the day until then.

I can't do it this weekend! I have a model to shoot at the haunted house, then a date and then the Saints play Sunday and then ... well, I guess I could do it later in the day Sunday.

Sorry, I think this might be the death of this thread. Not ME being busy, but our various schedules. I would play a single game of Brood War, if my copy worked on Windows 7. I am not giving those apes more money.

Because, you villainous sperm, I didn't want the fine people of this thread to think I was just blowing them off or being difficult. And then, towards the end of the post, I sort of admitted that for half a day on Sunday I am doing NOTHING. That I AM NOTHING.

Oh, whoops, I forgot, I am fucking mopping or vacuuming or doing other shit to keep busy and forget, for one second, the living hell I have found myself trapped within, with no goddamn Christing way out.

Why don't you go have sex with your wife, eat some green chiles and fly an airplane, jerk. I'm REAL GLAD that things have turned around for you and you're happier than the rest of us. Nothing about it said gangster --- until this. It was a nice piece of work, Pinback. You shouldn't have signed it.

Ben logged on, read this (I assume) and went to bed. Now I feel bad. I am sorry, Ben.

I am sorry.

And, I mean, Ben's been a good friend. He's really helped me by listening to me vent for the last month. I took his friendship and I threw it in the garbage, like some kind of jerk. Why did I do that? Why couldn't I just say, "Yeh-a-aah, good point!" and leave it at that.

Why?

I can do a 3PM game. The leaves in the driveway can wait.

Now to go upstairs and root around...

I'm logged in?

Pinback refuses to respond to my requests for Aardvark's contact information, PMing him doesn't appear to grab his attention, and there isn't any further communication between any of us... So...

Erm...

"sigh"

It turns out that the SC discs went with my son when he moved into his new apartment. BALLS! I have the manual and the building charts, but no software.

Anyone want to play Diablo 2? I have those...
