Posted from my new computer: A PowerPC MAC OS X 10.4

Post by Tdarcos »

I thought I posted this reference here before. The article is too long to include here so it can be found at

http://www.caltrops.com/pointy.php?acti ... pid=154507

or

http://www.paul-robinson.us/index.php/2 ... 26/mac_osx

First paragraph:

I am using a new (to me) computer that just arrived yesterday, a Macintosh OS X 10.4 PowerPC. I am posting this message from that Mac. Now, some might say it's obsolete because Apple stopped supporting it back in 2009. But, as I see it, for not a lot of money I get the opportunity to get my feet wet doing some things on a Mac and discover if I should go further.
Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

Check if the CPU on the thing supports 10.5 (that was the last version with PPC support.)

Yeah, but anyone who has it is gouging; I went on eBay and anyone who has it wants upwards of $45 for the upgrade dsc. (Note, that's Apple's phrasing. An 'update' is free, it's a patch or other enhancement. An 'upgrade' is a raise in release level and you don't get it free.)

And would you believe I've been testing doing flippling from one machine to another and lost a message I was typing on the Mac because I rebooted it. It was probably similar to this message, and mainly that I wanted to get Apache and VNC working on it.

Hey fella, I think this one sentence is finally evidence of proof that God exists. He saved us from more of your useless blather. Can I get an AMEN people? AMEN! Thank you, Jesus!
