Total War

Post by lethargic »

Anybody have any opinion on the Total War games?

I had been considering getting Civilization V but now Gamefly has put the Total War series on sale. Single games are like 3-5 dollars and the Master Collection on sale for 22, regularly 90.

So now I'm thinking I should get that instead of Civ V. Or maybe Civ V is more fun and I should get? I don't know what to do. I wish somebody would talk me into or out of one of these things.

Civ 5. Come on. What's better than a nice Civ game? Just one more turn! Ha ha!

Get all the expansions too. You can build an XCOM Squad!
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

I have half taken your advice. I bought Total War, but only the Empire one that was 3 dollars. I did not buy all of them. I will play this until a complete Civ V goes on sale.

I got bored with Empire Total War very quickly.

Got Civ V. It is much better. I wanted a game where I could chop wood, now I am chopping wood.

I played it for 3 and a half hours and didn't want to quit. But I did. But then I figured out you can't save the tutorial campaign. All that work for nothing!!!

What ever you do don't buy Total War Shogun 2. It is the newest, brokenest, buggiest piece of shit in the series. It breaks things that worked in the previous game and removes others. My understanding is to play Total War Rome 2? This is from the man that gifted me Shogun and spent far too much time crushing people online. My personal experience with Shogun 2 was of reading for an hour trying to wrap my head around what was going on, and then the game locking up a unit and making the boat tutorial and thus the whole tutorial unwinnable. Then I bought SR4.

A++++ WOULD REFUSE AS A STEAM GIFT NEXT TIME

Try King Arthur: The Roleplaying Wargame sometime, it may provide more satisfaction than Total War.

One of the reasons I didn't get the collection was because I look at those Shogun games and wonder how they could possibly be fun. A bunch of guys with bamboo sticks slapping each other?
