They have autosaves at certain intervals but on top of that you can save your game at anytime. I just played Far Cry 3 a few months ago. I have spent hundreds of hours playing the Saints Row games. Nobody has played those games more than me. Of course you can save anytime. What else would you do just play the entire game in one sitting and never quit? haha
Well, Jonsey, all I got to say about this is:

lethargic has not spent hundreds of hours playing Saints Row 4. It just came out. There haven't been 200 hours yet since it came out.

I will now look up and see if save-anywhere is part of the Far Cry 3 port for the 360. (Or the PC version is the port. I don't know. Not using "port" in a condescending way here.)

Pinback, you will get yours later.

This is how it worked on the PC version. I typed in "far cry 3" +360 + "save anywhere"
I don't have the game yet, I was just curious about this.

The short answer is Yes.

When you are in an active mission (sometimes this means having entered a specific area to trigger the mission start, as you always have a story mission prompt) it does not let you save. Instead it will have checkpoints.

But when out on your own you can save at any time. You cannot however load games the same way. To load a save you must quit to the main menu (there is a button in the menu to do so) then load from there.
I would like to note that the idiot on the thread I found said, "Yes, you can save" and then immediately stated how, no, you can't actually save whenever you want.

You can't save anywhere on a mission in Far Cry 3, and most of your time in the game is on an active mission. Not being able to quicksave on a mission was the exact thing I hated about it.

This was fun and I hope this demonstrates why I don't challenge lethargic on Batman, Flack on the Commodore 64 and Pinback on being the single most hateful human being I have ever let into my life.

That said... well, shit. I have another Far Cry 3 thing to talk about. Lemme find the Far Cry 3 thread.

I want to state that you are the best thing to happen to this BBS since Flack. Actually talking about games again has been ENJOYABLE.

As I noted up above, it was the "save in a mission" thing that bugged me.

At the same time, I found out later why my computer overheated and rebooted when playing Far Cry 3. I had fucking cat hair caught in the fan of the video card.

So that is on me. That's... that's boo boo #1.

Sure, it sucks you can't skip cutscenes in some games. But what's that got to do with saving?
I hate seeing the same cut scene over and over again. Due to the fact that I couldn't save, I saw the brother of the Far Cry 3 protagonist get killed four times! That's a lot of game to replay. :(

And I totally disagree with the first statement as much as anything I've ever heard. The #1 reason I play video games is because it's the best storytelling medium in the world right now. I'd rather play a game than watch almost any movie or TV show. I mean come on, Ben Affleck isn't in any games!
That dude with the mohawk in Far Cry 3 has potential, but man, do most games come off as either insipid or full of social justice warrior crap (Mass Effect & Dragon Age come to mind).

4. That means 3 more came before it. They all save the exact same way. Nothing changed from 1 to 2 to 3 and since 4 started as an expansion of 3 I seriously doubt it's changed.

I did hate the save system though because they didn't give you the option to name your saves and we always had 10-20 characters per game and we'd have to sit there going through all those god damn save files to find Santa Claus, Hulk Hogan or Seung-Hui Cho.

Understood, and if there is a sudden shift in this thread towards the insult that pinback gave me, this is why.

I bought Saints Row 4 tonight! Started to play it. Great customization, great engine, great gun play.

You can't fucking save the thing.

There isn't quicksave in any way, shape or form in Saints Row 4. When I go to save it, it takes me back to a checkpoint that is a half hour ago.

How does anyone play these games and think, "Yes, this is acceptable."

Saints Row 4, another game that would probably be good except you can't save the fucking thing. One star.

Oh. I am the second Google search result for "saints row 4" +quicksave.

I guess you save your progress but not your location.
