The Best Bad Beer

Post by pinback »

My pick for the Best Bad Beer is:

ROLLING ROCK!

Why, you ask?

Main reason is, unlike most/all other bad beers (Bud, Coors, etc, etc.), it doesn't have that slightly sour corn thing going on, or whatever it is. It tastes like fizzy, slightly beer-flavored water. As opposed to other bad beers which taste like fizzy, slightly beer-flavored water with just a hint of stomach acid.

Also the green bottles are cool, and let you know that IT knows its a bad beer, since no good beer would last more than a week in a green bottle without getting skunked up the ass.

Anyway, there ya go. Great ice cold, not pretending it's something it's not, and it doesn't trigger bilious acid reflux.

ROLLING ROCK: The one beer to have, when you're having more than seven!

Well, I mean it's BAD, but... yeah.

1. Beer snobs gave up, by the way, and went from calling all this macro BudMillOors shit "bad beer" to just inventing a style name for it and letting it all rot under that category. The name of the style? "American Adjunct Lager".

2. Can you recommend another "AAL" as clean and not-gross-tasting as the ROCK?!!

Well, the Nerd drinks that, so it must be related to diarrhea.

I have to go with Natural Light since I've been stuck with a 24 pack of it for a few weeks now and will eventually have to bite the bullet and drink it because I'm so OCD about wasting money or food and beverages. I had initially got it for an acquaintance who agreed to work for beer but he only drank 6 of them and didn't return after the first day of work. I should have got him beer I actually like. But that was what he wanted. :/

Oh and as for least foul tasting domestic beers I'd wager that anyone who finds beer in general to be noxious tasting will probably be the least offended by Michelob Ultra. I noticed a lot of the ladies around these parts tend to order that and got to wondering. I figured it must be the the least beer tasting beer since women tend to prefer non beer alcoholic beverages but I tried it and found that it actually wasn't bad. Basically kind of how you described Rolling Rock. Slightly beer flavored water with some fizz and no foul after taste. I guess its probably ultra low on calories as well making it the perfect diet beer.

I can't really afford the luxury of being a quality beer taster so I generally just don't drink. I'm too old for it anyway I think, if I drink pretty much any alcohol I just get too sleepy to do anything and often wake up feeling like shit even if all I did was get a buzz. At social events around here where beer is provided such as at large cookout parties with friends and family they generally serve domestic beers like Budweiser and Miller so that is usually what I drink as a result (since I don't actually go out and buy it for myself) if I drink at all. I guess I've unwittingly acquired a taste for it.

When I was younger and went to bars I'd usually order something interesting and manly like Killians Irish Red or Guiness Stout but these days I just can't see the sense in literally pissing away my already pitiful earnings. Come to think of it, doesn't Michelob make an amber beer as well? Amber Boch or something. Wonder if thats any good.
