Arkadia Retrocade

Post by Flack »

As of last Friday, I'm essentially out of the arcade business. My four "prize" machines I was holding on to (720, Commando, Rampart and my Williams Multicade) were all purchased by the Arkadia Retrocase in Fayatteville, Arkansas. I loaded them up on my trailer and delivered them on Friday.

That leaves me with the 60-in-1 machine in my dining room and a cabinet carcass out in the garage that may or may not turn into a MAME machine someday. Other than those two, I'm out. I packed up all my leftover PCBs, t-molding, control panels, side art, and everything else I had and turned it over to them as well.

I know the guys over at Arkadia will take care of the machines and I get a little bit of joy over the fact that I know other people will get to enjoy them (rather than having them collect dust in my garage), but I'd be lying if I said the whole thing wasn't bittersweet. It marks the end of an era, for sure.

Me too. My biggest problem is that I can play MAME/arcade games on my desktop upstairs, my iPad/iCade, the Raspberry Pi, my laptop downstairs, the living room computer, the arcade cabinet in the dining room, and so on. I have to walk past at least ten machines that can play Donkey Kong before going out to the garage to start on the 11th.
