I'm gonna take a stab at these if you don't mind, Don.
Very much so. I constantly have dreams where I'm waking up in a very nice hotel but with only minutes till time to check out. No time to surf, jump in the pool, nothing. I'd say that's a clear reflection of my anxieties revolving around time being a static thing that I'm constantly running out of.Flack wrote:Serious question: does your belief in time, real or otherwise, affect the way you live your life?
There may be other strange things that cause them, but they are generally formed from large, decaying stars. Once the core of the star crushes to almost zero volume, it creates a "singularity". Since matter or objects can't go any faster than the speed of light (which is required to escape the rim of a black hole), all matter and even radiation which approaches the black hole can never escape.RealNC wrote:Where did the black holes come from?

Right. I mean, I think you and I are on the same page here. My question is more, if you don't believe that any of the human existence is real, then why do you bother waking up on Monday mornings and going to work? If all of this is just a simulation and a figment of our (or someone else's) imagination, what's the point of suffering through ~80 years of it?Jizaboz wrote:I'm gonna take a stab at these if you don't mind, Don.

Anyone who has interpreted anything I've written as meaning "this isn't real" has interpreted it almost exactly oppositely of how it was intended. That's probably my lack of skill of using words to describe that which exists prior to, and behind words.
But I think I'll take this to a different forum. People look forward to my posts here less than they look forward to Paul. That's a red flag.

Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

1. Maybe because even if they don't agree with me at least I have thought about the answer and I do read what you say as opposed to you apparently unable to read what I say.pinback wrote:But I think I'll take this to a different forum. 2. As usual, you're wrong again. That's not a red flag. That's a red flag:pinback wrote:That's a red flag.

I mean, it's ICJ's call, but I found a great Amazon Prime deal on half a dozen Ginsu knives today.pinback wrote:I feel we need an additional provision about not encouraging other forum members to kill themselves. Your BBS, though. I defer to your greater skill and wisdom.
