Ben, why are all the people on the Howard Stern forums saying stuff like, "Robin, I was just about to write him a note" as something Howard would say?

All I ever knew of Imus was the “nappy headed hoes” comment which really sticks with me because I sure as hell went to more black girl birthday (1 to be exact) parties than that guy. Holy shit what an out of touch and stupid thing to say.

Yes, Howard (but even more viciously, Robin) hated Imus. You can see Howard's side of the feud in the movie Private Parts.

He was so bad that 20 years ago, even Neil Rogers would refer to him as "a dead man in a chair".

Imus sucks. I dunno what "I was just about to write him a note" means.

I have an answer to this now. After Robin Williams died, he said he was "just about to write him a letter" to apologize for his appearance on the show whenever it was, because now that Howard's "Mr. Celebrity Interview Guy", he looks back on his earlier days (you know, the days that made him the #1 guy in radio) and feels bad about it.

Apparently reddit hopped all over it and now sarcastically uses that line anytime anyone associated with the show dies.

I hope Howard Stern was just about to call his brother David, because he's been added to the list.
