Re: I can't believe Tdarcos outlived....
According to Wikipedia, it's Patrice O'Neal. That saved me from having to post a question like "Who is John Galt?" err I mean "Who is Patrice O'Neil?" then on top of having to be told about a guy I didn't know, I discover Jonsey spelled his name wrong.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Patrice O'Neil.
His picture made him look like a gangsta rapper. Until I read the article, I figured he died from lead poisoning like so many of that crowd.

Did you ever notice when someone does speeches or articles that when the person begins their article with a question - especially a long-winded one - or if the question seems to be asked in a whiny tone, that there are inevitably comparisons to Andy Rooney?

That's utterly sick. You guys picked on me because I tried to offer advice to the guy, and didn't know he'd offed himself and his kids, notwithstanding the fact I didn't know the guy (I didn't know his real name and his handle disclosed nothing) and had no means to know what he'd done.pinback wrote:Adam Parcells!!
Now you make this kind of a comment. It's like someone saying they'd like to have a big event to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary, so someone suggests we knock down a couple of buildings to celebrate!
Then the guy looks at the horrified faces and says, "What, too soon?"

Harry Morgan. And I didn't know he was dead. He also was Sgt. Friday's sidekick Bill Gannon in Dragnet.Rally Czech wrote:The guy who played Colonel Potter in M*A*S*H

I have a message.
If it's about my discharge, give it to me straight! I can take it!
Colonel Sherman T. Potter's plane... was shot down... over the Sea of Japan.
It spun in...
There were no survivors.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Re: Colonel Potter
Pinback, you incompetent, it wasn't Potter who died; he was there until the end of the series. It was Henry Blake who was (supposedly) killed.pinback wrote:Pinback, put a mask on!Tdarcos wrote:Harry Morgan. And I didn't know he was dead.Rally Czech wrote:The guy who played Colonel Potter in M*A*S*H

I say "supposedly" because The Carol Burnette Show (the program which followed the episode) had an opening scene in which McLean Stevenson was shown in a raft in the ocean, waving his arms and saying "I'm OK! I'm OK," which was a "take that" to the producers of M*A*S*H. (McLean Stevenson wasn't even told that his character would be killed off after he left the series.)

Re: Colonel Potter
Bruce is clearly and obviously feckless (in both senses) whose only capacity when questioned was to engage in ad-hominem insults. When I asked him what he meant, he first raised two insults about me that had nothing to do with the issue, he then questioned my ability to do something in a manner that clearly showed that he not only didn't read what I wrote, he knows less about Linux than I do.pinback wrote:How did Bruce say it?Tdarcos wrote: Pinback, you incompetent, it wasn't Potter who died; he was there until the end of the series. He's a bore. He is a rash on the skin of the Universe awaiting the calamine lotion which will terminate his less-than-useless existence. The only thing left to do is floccinaucinihilipilificate him and I have now done so.

Bruce is the closest thing to an "enemy" that I have on this BBS, but I can guarantee that this is false.Tdarcos wrote:he knows less about Linux than I do.

He didn't understand that if you're running Linux on a Live CD, that you can shut it down without damaging anything because you do not have a file system requiring fsync.pinback wrote:Bruce is the closest thing to an "enemy" that I have on this BBS, but I can guarantee that this is false.Tdarcos wrote:he knows less about Linux than I do.
He also seemed to think it was dangerous to shut down a machine when the video quits before you ever see anything as if you have any choice.
I stand by my statement.
