Always sucks to hear when someone dies of lung cancer and didn't even smoke cigarettes.

Yeah in both cases I have seen of that personally that is exactly what happened. Eventually we will just buy new lungs but it will be expensive.

It's always interesting to me when someone younger than me dies especially when the article says "unexpectedly", as if his weight wasn't a factor. What's unexpected is that tDarcos outlived this guy even though they're probably similar weights (except for the missing leg of course).

Aw, come on, 'Vark! As Blue Oyster Cult sang in Don't Fear the Reaper, 40,000 people die every day. That's worldwide numbers; the CDC reported for 2019, 2,854,838 Americans died, an average of about 7,820 a day, with 3,745,540 births, an average of 10,262 new people are born every day, so for every person that dies, there are 1.3 people to replace them.

If 1 person in 10,000 in the U.S. is famous or important, that's about 35,000 people. If the average death rate of 5 per thousand holds, that's 170 dying per year or about 1 every two days. Someone (famous) has to (statistically) die every other day, and it's just pure chance.

Now, on the other hand, celebrities (and some rich people) probably live riskier lifestyles (such as in the use of "recreational white powder", i.e. snow skiing [or did you think I meant some other recreational white powder]), so the death rate might be twice the average, say, 10 per 1,000, so we should see an average of 1 famous or important person die each day.

What's a "rich" person?

Say it's someone with at least $1,000,000. Well, in the U.S. alone there are over 1,000,000 millionaires, which means if we just count "rich bastards," at the standard average of 5 per thousand, that's about 5,000 people dying each year, or about 15 a day, many of whom might be both rich and famous.
