Thanks for the explanation as to what "What About Bob?" is. I am content with my decision-making to never encounter it and never in the future encounter it.

Was it as funny as Jaws?
I thought so, yes.

ICJ, we haven't been helpful to you regarding your "what about bob" decisionmaking process. It is actually really funny in a lot of ways. First, Bill Murray. Period. He improvises most of his characters and clearly not only did he improvise this one but the fact that one of Dreyfus' best lines isn't in the script tells me that he was probably infectous on the set, making everyone funnier. Julie Haggerty from Airplane is the wife and is always funny. The dynamic between Bob and Dreyfus versus Bob and everyone else is the core conflict of the movie but there are gags in every scene. I put What about Bob in the catagory of movies that I'll always be able to watch again including Caddyshack, John Candy movies, and most things National Lampoon.

No, I did not think it was unacceptable. If nothing else, I thought it was silly. But if I was going to report someone, I'd have reported the aide who cheated me out of $42.
Flack wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 10:55 am And if you don't think telling your caregivers that you want to "sample their goods" is misconduct then... wow.
Works both ways, if my response is misconduct, well, hers would have been far worse. But I treated it as a silly statement, so I responded in kind.

After throwing me out, and I'm suing them for unlawful retaliation, my lawyer can question them during a deposition:
Lawyer: So, let me get this straight, you said he sexually harassed an aide there and that is why you evicted him?
Administrator: Yes.
Lawyer: What did he say?
Administrator: He asked her to have sex with him.
Lawyer: What exactly did he say?
Administrator: He said he'd like to "sample the merchandise."
Lawyer: Didn't he say he would have to sample the merchandise, first?
Administrator: Yes.
Lawyer: Was this a response to something an aide said, first?
Administrator: Yes.
Lawyer: Was it because the Aide treating him told him she wanted him to marry her?
Administrator: Yes.
Lawyer: So, could it be one of your people initiated a conversation in which she was harassing him first, and, rather than suing your organization, he took it as a joke?
Administrator: I don't know.
Lawyer: So let me ask you, wasn't his eviction because you wanted to make him look unbelievable if he sued for harassment?
Administrator's lawyer: Objection!
Lawyer: I withdraw the question. Nothing further.
Flack wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 10:55 am I fall for this every time, thinking you are willing or even capable of understanding these things. Here's my challenge to you -- reach out to a few people outside that nursing home and not on the BBS and find someone who thinks this is a good idea. Go to a website that knows what HIPPA stands for or what Vulnerable Adult Abuse is and ask them if this is ethical, moral, or legal behavour on her part. I'll sit back and wait for that to happen.
Actually, it's HIPAA. HIPPA is probably the pet name a zoo has for one of the female hippos.

You know, the world is not always black and white, there are shades of gray. I joke around with the staff all the time. There is a difference between harmless banter and abuse. That which is abuse should inflict pain or suffering, or be insulting, humiliating, or bothersome. Abuse is in the eye of the beholder. Some parents spank their children for misbehavior. Some might consider that child abuse. If I was in the slightest way made uncomfortable, unhappy, depressed, or in pain, I would have done something about it.

Hell, if we want to talk "elder abuse," how about the three or four times a day I get stabbed in the finger so they can take a blood sugar reading, or the 2-3 times a day they stab me in the gut with a needle to give me insulin? Those things hurt! You're right, that is elder abuse, I need to do something about it! Oh wait, what? If they didn't do these things, I'd have major medical problems and might even die? Oh.

(In Emily Litella voice) Never mind.

That's fine, since I'm not allowed to have a knife anyway. Personally, I'd have preferred lead crystal or a set of china. I'm old-fashioned when it comes to wedding gifts.

I take a little break and then come back to find out Retro has returned to the BBS, CO and his wife are getting along really well, and Paul has a new love interest. I totally switched timelines, didn't I?
