They say that most people give up on their resolutions by the second Friday of the new year.

My Planet Fitness is beyond capacity right now. Every treadmill in use all afternoon/evening. Not enough room for everyone trying to lift, they are doing exercises in front of the weight racks which prevents other people from getting or returning weights. It's 2x the mess it was last year.

Hoping this is the last weekend of anarchy.

Oh I beat that, I gave up on all my resolutions the second I hit the "submit" button.

NHL23 on a treadmill had had me at 9000+ steps the last two days. I can't believe EA Sports is going to get me healthier.

You should try some of the old C64 EA games. You could get 5,000 steps in before they loaded!

Did you have the tape player too?

Though I think I used it with my VIC-20 and had the disk drive for the C64

It's February!

Get to 205 on the scale: I was 213.0 the day of my surgery. I'm close to this.

6700 steps every day: There was one day in January where I didn't do it, but I am averaging 7100 steps each day this year. I have NHL 23 to mostly thank for this. But yeah, nailing this one.

Release Cyberganked: 47 Github commits this year so far. Progress is being made. I was having trouble trying to characterize the chief antagonist of the game. The chief antagonist is the CEO of the ISP that the party is trying to restore Internet access from. Well, after the last week I have no problem characterizing what a douchebag CEO would do, what their motivations would be and so on. I waited around for so long that I'll be able to get the central conflict "ripped from today's headlines."

I am strongly considering banning tech purchases for one year : I did buy a used Playstation 3, but I avoided buying a synthesizer, a 7800, a 7800+, a new pair of boots and a new computer chair. All of those things have entered my mind, but I haven't done it yet. I feel good about this. I think I was a kind of shopaholic.

Eliminate procrastination through mobile phone scrolling: I am counting the blog posts about games as succeeding at this one. I wanted to publish on Mondays and Thursdays, but I think I get more traction just doing it on Mondays. But yes, I've mindlessly scrolled far less.

Lastly... learn more at my job: KIND of doing this. I am going to make sure that I try using the debugger for Playwright this week. I was able to get some new tests in, but I put off the next one I am supposed to do. It's going OK.

I'm with you about purchases, with the Oligarchs raiding the country, I'm sure not gonna pony up an extra 25% for some new chinese piece of shit. My wife says what's going on will only stop if Americans stop buying shit we don't need and start hurting the companies that have bought our government.

Resolution wise: I still have a job, boss seemed thrilled with me this afternoon so far so good.

We started a No Buy Year for 2025... well, we dipped our toe into it and did a No Buy January.

https://www.robohara.com/?p=14976

We're going to do a podcast episode or something in the next week or so. We made a couple of purchases in February -- my wife more than myself. It has certainly made us be more conscious in regards to making small purchases.

Flack, how's the Orange Savior's executive orders treating you these days? I hope you don't have to start working in an office.

It's the shopping that is the tech part!

Credit boot websites, they hire great photographers. Red Wing Shoes has a website that makes me want to go outside.

I think they are one of the few boot stores around here that I could go to (after looking at them on the Internet) and see if something actually fits or not. I don't know if they have a reputation or not. I am sure if I get the wrong pair I look like a huge tool running around with work boots when I program all day, like someone getting the top of the line truck to haul legos to daycare.

In 2023 Susan and I traveled to Duluth, MN so she could meet with someone from Red Wings about distributing her shoe line. It wasn't a good fit (ha ha) but we had a good time. In the lobby of their flagship store there in Duluth is the world's largest boot, of which I have 90 pictures but will only share one. If you do purchase some Red Wings boots, do not order this size.

Jesus Christ, you could live in that shoe. You could have so many children you wouldn't know what to do!

That's tough, the instructions on how to fill it with my own sick piss are on the bottom and I keep having to consult it.
