It is my understanding that only PC Gamers had these problems.pinback wrote:Oh, well. That settles it.lethargic wrote:It's never crashed on me.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Cool, could they mod it so we get a version that doesn't crash on launch?

Oh, Mankind Divided is out now, btw :-P
People seem to hate it. It has... micro-transactions? Wtf? From the top Steam review:
"Disgraceful. Forget the framerate, forget the performance issues. The mere presence of an in-game store on a single player game is an insult to the playerbase, the franchise, and just plain common decency."

Yeah, that was supposed to be the killing blow against the incompetence of No Man's Sky and game journo corruption, but Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:
1) Doesn't work
2) Is a console port
3) Has more micro-transactions than augs
4) Crystalizes all the shitty things about AAA games that people hate.
6 fucking logos before you see the main menu. What a shitshow.
Oh, and the y-axis couldn't be inverted, a factoid that NO journo that saw the game before release bothered to fucking mention. What a worthless fucking profession.

I appreciate you telling me that. I want to say something but I don't want it to be a reflection on YOU. You are trying to add content. You are doing the right thing.
I ... I think Myst and Riven are two of the worst games ever made.
I like that they are being made, they are just 180 degrees from the sort of game I enjoy.
It's me. Not you, Nikos. The fault is with me.

This game is unbelievably terrible. Within 10 minutes the "mission" is to fight 20 guys all more powerful than you, without giving you any ammo or energy. If this didn't have the Deus Ex name behind it, I would have given up and asked for a refund.
What terrible fucking level design. Oh, and there's a "protect the hostage" component to the 30 enemies and a "disable that chopper!" piece, but if you shoot the chopper nothing happens.
What a pathetic joke. Probably the worst game I've ever played at this point.

The way to get past it is to get close to the helicopter and find a "hatch" and take the battery. Since this is made-up videogame nonsense, good design would have given the player some info about Helicopters in Deus Ex beforehand. Something, anything. Great design would mean that we would do this again.
About 20 minutes of cut scenes follow, but at least we get to hear what became of some of the characters from Human Revolution.

Not really, no. I haven't had any fun yet and Steam says I've been playing for three hours. Can you imagine making a movie and it's not fun for 3 hours and you expect people to keep playing?
Mankind Divided loves putting about 50 enemies on the screen at once, all of whom will instantly target you in the middle of gunfights while giving you absolutely no weapons or ammo to fight back. What a piece of shit.

That doesn't make you a bad person. I got reeeeeeeeeeally smug after No Man's Sky blew up (a game that -- aside from the crashes -- sounds like an amazing two-hour experience that I'll buy once it dips below $20).
And then my boy Jensen is suffering through the same thing.
This is why you don't teach lessons!

I'm at about 60 hours of playtime. And counting. I think I'm addicted to the game.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:sounds like an amazing two-hour experience that I'll buy once it dips below $20
Every time I start it up, it still feels like this:

I don't think I've played any video game before that feels... magical. Maybe the first ever video game I played in my life felt like this. But I don't remember what the game was.

Back to Mankind Divided:
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's OK. That is my review so far. Still love Jensen. The dialogue mechanics are poor. It's very lawnmower / CYOA-ish. In fact, lawnmower dialogue is overstating it. So many times you get three choices and you can do all three in any order and that's it.
They also continue to have no idea about introducing new mechanics. I'm on a side mission and the solution to it involves putting a biocell into a crane that is in its unextended form. I guess I could have wandered up to the crane and precisely seen that it was interactive, but I didn't.
At no point does the game do anything to hint that the crane can be interacted with.
You do have an "augmented vision" which is sort of like the thing I was trying to do with the third eye in Cryptozookeeper: an alternate / extra "look." It does occur to me that I didn't scan the thing with the augmented vision. If that does give you a reason to go over there then I take it back.

Oh come on! Everybody knows what that is, it's a hosting platform for computer viruses.RealNC wrote:It runs fine. Unless you have an very old PC or don't know what a "visual c++ redistributable package" is.
