So what you're saying is that you aren't "in favor" of King Charles here.
I thankfully keep forgetting the royal family exists, and then I see shit like this. This was on LinkedIn, a terrible site. This ... this is not work news, by the way, but:
This was one of my fave pics. When people were losing their shit about Michelle Obama touching the Queen, she reciprocated with an arm around the waist. Like "Everybody calm down, I'm good!"
I wish I had the vocabulary to describe how pathetic literally every single part of this is. But I don't. I'll start with, "God, imagine bolting out of bed on a Thursday and getting on Work Facebook and writing about this, like any of it fucking matters."
Now, this doesn't show up (it just says "image") because I'm that guy at parties who uses anti-tracker browser extensions, but I'm gonna say it anyway:
Who's that?

Harry Truman allegedly spoke about what it would be like for Eisenhower once he takes office.
"Poor Ike. He's going to hate being president, He won't realize this isn't the army. He'll say 'Do this,' and 'do that,' and nothing will happen."

You're right; it was my memory. Looking it up, while my quote was not exact, I did get the essence of the quote. I found the exact quote at the world's largest library of facts and information, stored in hundreds of millions of places:
QUOTATION: When contemplating General Eisenhower winning the Presidential election, Truman said, “He’ll sit here, and he’ll say, ‘Do this! Do that!’ And nothing will happen. Poor Ike—it won’t be a bit like the Army. He’ll find it very frustrating.” ATTRIBUTION: HARRY S. TRUMAN.—Richard E. Neustadt, Presidential Power, the Politics of Leadership, p. 9 (1960). SUBJECTS: Presidency
The original place where I read it noted that Truman was wrong; Rosenmhpwer did understand and knew something about how, after four years of grueling war (1941-1945) the country needed time to recover, and heal. Yes, and again it's not exact and at 3 in the morning I'm too tired & lazy to look it up.
Oh hell, if I don't check it, someone\a gonna ding me for it anyway. You guys are probably more pedantic than I am.
So, on second thought, it probably took as long or longer to say I was too tired to look it up than to just look it up in the first place. Here it is, with attribution:
Harry Truman didn't think his successor had the right training to be president. "Poor Ike -- it won't be a bit like the Army," he said. "He'll sit there all day saying, 'Do this, do that,' and nothing will happen." Truman was wrong about Ike. Dwight Eisenhower had led a fractious alliance -- you didn't tell Winston Churchill what to do -- in a massive, chaotic war. He was used to politics.

I meant the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey.
Eisenhower is purely incidental. In the book it was a small one-upmanship contest between McMurphy and Harding to decide who was the defacto leader of the inmates.

A bit late but I enjoyed this one..
Jean-Luc Godard
The director died at age 91 by assisted suicide in Rolle, Switzerland. Godard's longtime legal adviser, Patrick Jeanneret, told The New York Times on September 13, that the filmmaker "decided with a great lucidity, as he had all his life, to say, 'Now, it's enough.'"

Judy Tenuta acted in half a dozen movies in 2020. When the pandemic hit she slowed down and during that time she was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. After her death, her publicist confirmed that Judy was born in 1949, not 1965 like she told everybody. Tenuta's tape was one of the first ones I bought as a teen as I was transitioning from my parents' comedy albums to my own and I'm sure all my friends got sick of hearing it (and me repeating those bits).
