Who?? WTF? A local game show host? That's not impressive. Thread over. Lock it up. Hall of Fame it. It's no fun anymore. He ruined his own tribute thread.

He did this every single week for over
fifty years. You don't think that is impressive?

No. I don't. I think there are people who have worked in factories and coal mines every week for 50 years. Hosting a community access level quiz show is not that impressive.

Uh, let's try again. I said he was on WRC-TV Channel 4, that's not community access, that is the NBC Afflilliate for Washington DC, owned and operated by the National Broadcasting Company, which means his show has been seen by several million people over the years.

Not and stay in the 10-line limit. Channel 4 and
The Washington Post have excellent articles on Mac McGarry and his legacy of 50 years of television broadcasting, including that his first on-air gig was announcing the start of the Korean War:

I was in Target yesterday and took a look at Tom Clancy's latest book for which he had a co-author, where it mentions that Tom Clancy was an insurance broker (here in Maryland) who had a huge interest in military history and wanted to write a military thriller, his first book, The Hunt for Red October was a huge success, and that his books have basically defined the entire genre.
The book also mentioned that Tom Clancy died in October, 2013. I had no idea.
