During yet another bout with insomnia I caught Risky Drinking, a new HBO documentary about alcoholism. It really made me look at drinking issues and alcoholism from a different angle, and made me a bit more sympathetic. It's easy for non-alcoholics to ask, "Why don't they just quit drinking?" Usually when I ask that I have a box of Oreos nearby, so there's that. Anyway, I wish you the best in 2017, and hope you find the inner strength and motivation to succeed.

How come this isn't a poll so we can all guess when he fails? I'd say 1 week at most.

There are no such things as failures, there are only obstacles to your next victory. Also, since ICJ wants these posts funny, here:

We're not going to turn this into another garbage shitpost. If you guys keep doing it, I gotta disable your accounts again. Fucking guy is trying to stay sober and you're intent on making it about yourselves.

Did you ever find a new, suitable way to relax and remain calm?

Now hold on a minute, don't start dumping me into this. I felt the story was stupid from the beginning.

Short Summary: If the video guy didn't drink by his 30s he's not going to start, his tolerance is low, can't drink much before passing out, and he'd wake up the next morning with a nasty hangover discouraging further drinking. I saw the skit as more of a parody on anti-addiction films like Reefer Madness.

Also, Jonsey, Give Ben credit here. If he has any hope at all of solving his problem on his own, some stupid not-very-funny comedy piece is not going to affect him. Otherwise he has a serious psychological addiction requiring professional assistance.

Deep breaths? I guess? Gum?

Alright, everyone get your guesses in as to how long I'll last. RealityCheck's guess is probably too short. I mean, I just did a full week in the middle of December, and about a month and a half last year.

I'm personally rooting for you Ben, and I think you can last as long as you set your mind to do so. So my answer is: forever!

Architect: Just how long do you think this [sobriety] is going to last?
Oracle: As long as it can.

I don't give a shit any more, I'm sick of you two ruining every thread. I'm also sick of pointing it out every couple of days only to hear you both tell me you didn't do nuffin and then try to argue your way out of it.

It's obvious that neither of you understands why on earth you might be shitting up the forum and like I said before, there are other people here who have a right to not have their experience turned to garbage because of you guys. I'm so sick of it. I am so sick of you two navel gazing your way on every goddamn thread and then acting like your collective Social Security is being cut off when someone tells you to take a fucking millisecond and reflect on why people may not want this garbage in EVERY FUCKING THREAD.

Again, I have to say that looking at this sequence of posts, I did indeed do nothing outside of provide encouragement to Ben.

Smooth sailin' until today! I find today to be the most challenging day so far. Probably because it's the first weekend day other than last Sunday when I was hungover as fuck and was glad to be done with it.

Sure could go for a cocktail, that's all I'm sayin'.

You guys were giving Retro a hard time about cleaning his face.

It was a funny comment and proves once again that Retro is in the top percentile of JC users. You guys give him a hard time, but. Well, actually only pinback gives him a hard time.

*I* appreciated it, Retro.
