The Definitive "Funniest Things On The Internet" L

Post by pinback »

We make things "definitive" around here by proposing an entry for the list, making our case with pros and cons, and then allowing the rest of the group to certify the entry, or veto it.

This Definitive List will be: The funniest things on the internet!

Here's my first, and still best entry, which I can't imagine anyone objecting to:

ENTRY: The Kevin Everett Tape

PROS: The greatest news blooper of all time? Perfectly timed audio and video, with blatant racial overtones, and the defeated newsman at the end just trying to smooth it over in a desperate situation.

CONS: The actual guy in the wheelchair. GET IT? CONS??
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

I am FOR this entry. Even if you are on the fence, Pinback's con joke really cells it.

I will give it a shot.

PROs: The first time you say "and they did... and they did" or "like that... like that..." out of context and realize how much this song has invaded your brain. Also, I have adopted Yoda's theories on where baby sticks come from.

CONs: At 3:36 in length, it gets a little old after the 200th viewing.

It is now in your hands.

My submission is the Four Science Fellows.

I have imgur blocked at the moment, but I think this link contains the story "Fellow Against Fellow," which is Jay Pinkerton's magnum opus.

I will try to inline the comic pages later. Pinback? Flack? FlyingCarp? Does this qualify?

I vote yes for Seagulls because it's universally hilarious, and no on Four Science Fellows because I think it's less universal. I believe it's one of the funniest things to Jonsey, and perhaps even myself, but it seems pretty niche.

If everyone chimes in and says it's one of the funniest things on the internet, though, I'll change my vote.

I don't want to front load the list with TOO many classics, but.. here you go.

I'm not even going to list pros and cons because that city motherfucker doesn't need 'em.

I vote a "soft no" on that one. It's great a couple of times -- ha, that black guy started talkin' like a black guy! -- but I dunno if it has the STAYING POWER to make it on this list.

Everyone can override my votes! I don't have final say here!

I vote YES to all previous submissions because I'm easy. I love the "Reporter Goes Ghetto" video. It's always been one of my favorites. There's a piece of us all in it. We're all trying to be that image of ourselves we think will get us furthest in life until something snaps us out of it and then we realize who we really are we just want to get out of this country-ass motherfucker.

I'd never seen the Seagull Yoda vid. Hilarious! I came down with the flu after catching it from my kids who spent the past two days simultaneously spewing. This song has been a continuous background to my illness and recovery. I surely won't come out of it the same.

Here's my own submission:

PROS: For us, the viewer, this is the best possible outcome.

CONS: Unlike most animated gifs that repeat endlessly, if you keep watching this on the 143rd cycle something different happens that isn't nearly as funny.

All of these are funny. Also, how dare you Don Rogers? That spirit intro is a TRUE CLASSIC.

Anyone else notice the uncanny resemblance between Paul and Father John Misty from The Happiness Engine's post?

Now that you mention it...I DO actually! I think Paul should record a video of himself singing a funny song and if it is good enough, then maybe it can make its way over to this thread!

That Paul Remix led me to Flak's most famous video and I'd say it deserves at least consideration for this list.

The remix itself gets my thumbs down despite the hilarious "so hot...so good...so hot hot hot" part around the 2m15s mark. Too long, not hot enough.
