[RECIPE] Ben's Famous Holiday Potatoes
I call them Holiday Potatoes because I only ever make them on either Thanksgiving or Christmas, because if you eat it more than once a year you will immediately die.
(It's mostly copied from other online potatoes au-gratin recipes, but I'm still callin' it mine because I made two tiny modifications.)
INGREDIENTS
============
3 tbsp flour
3 tbsp butter
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
'Bout 5 cups russet potatoes, sliced 1/8 inch thick (about 5-6 small/medium-sized taters.)
2 cups half-and-half
8 oz sharp cheddar, shredded
- Preheat oven to 350
- Melt butter in large saucepan.
- Add flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika
- Stir to combine for a minute or two.
- Slowly whisk in half-and-half
- Bring to boil, until thickened.
- Stir in cheese, until melted.
- Add potatoes, mix thoroughly
- Dump into a greased 2 quart baking dish.
- Cover tightly with foil, bake for an hour.
- Remove foil, bake for another 30 minutes till you start to get them little browned bits on the top
A huge hit at every holiday occasion (but only one of them, otherwise-- DEATH!!

Re: [RECIPE] Ben's Famous Holiday Potatoes
Lies, lies, all lies. It's no more deadly than it's famous. Hey, we heard that crap before. In Genesis, God told Adam and Eve that if they ate from the Tree of Life, "on that day you shall surely die." The serpent told them that God was lying his ass off, and they would not die on the day they ate the fruit of the Tree of Life, as God claimed. They ate from the tree, and did not die on that day. Adam lived over 800 years after that. You tell lies, just like God in the Bible.pinback wrote: Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:58 am I call them Holiday Potatoes because I only ever make them on either Thanksgiving or Christmas, because if you eat it more than once a year you will immediately die.
