I've been training MY MIND on lichess each day for the last four years and I am topping out at 400. I have yet to beat Battlechess or Atari chess on the easiest setting. And finally, one of the mods at lichess wrote me intersite email that contained sexually aggressive and offensive material (I won't go into it, but the mod was serious into prostate role playing; "prostrating" and "walnutting" he called it, sickeningly.) I've never been so disgusted and his second offensive mail on the topic added the grotesque detail of all the piece shapes.
I've read that in signing up for lichess you give away your right to sue them from a legal perspective so I'm not sure what I can do here. Chess has never been less fun. My only recourse to the filth sent my way by the mod is to ask for another 75-90 points be added to my ELO but even that is probably unlikely.
There is simply no way for humans to EVER get better at playing chess in today's US environment.

Re: Chess is dead
Not necessarily (hey. you brought up the idea of suing) so it depends on the EXACT WORDING of the agreement. If it only covers the chess company, that doesn't protect him. Hell, unless the agreement has aIce Cream Jonsey wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:23 pmAnd finally, one of the mods at lichess wrote me intersite email that contained sexually aggressive and offensive material... "winner pays costs" provision, you can just sue him pro se and even if you lose he'll be out thousands in legal costs.his sending sexually aggressive mail is harassment. Also, the onus is on them to prove both you agreed to its terms and had constructive notice.
Just remember, there are lawyers who both draft contacts and look for ways to get out of them. They work for insurance companies. If you are really pissed off, send me a copy of the agreement and a link to the sign-up. I'll tell you what I found, then you could go to a lawyer - any of them will see you for free to initially discuss your case and whether you should sue - and ask what chance you have. If nothing else, it will make that sick prick think twice about being a dick again, especially if, say you sue pro se and he has to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars in legal fees just to defend a case.
Don't forget, the Deep Blue computer and Watson software beat Casparov, then the best chess player in the world. I'm sure PC-based chess is very good now. Chess is a nice form of polite warfare against a friend or acquaintance, if your opponent is a person, in person, with no way to get hints.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:23 pmChess has never been less fun. People will find new methods, quite possibly from seeing computer matches. But I think people expected chess to die out when more interesting things like...Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:23 pmThere is simply no way for humans to EVER get better at playing chess in today's US environment.
Radio was invented,
Motion pictures were invented,
Phonograph records were invented,
Television was invented,
Computers became available to individuals,
The Internet became popular,
Shopping online became available. and,
The "killer app" of the internet became available:
Unlimited amounts of free porn!
Chess has survived everything that happened over centuries. It'll live, and probably thrive.
