I'm reviewing all of the various contention and unease that has plagued this place for the last week or so, and in every situation, I end up pointing to the same user as the ultimate cause, catalyst, and deserving recipient of the blame:

Me.

I would like to put something up to a poll. I'd like to see what the public opinion is here, about whether or not you think this place needs a break from me in order to cool down and regain the sense of camaraderie and friendliness for which it was, and will again be famous.

Please vote seriously, as I will seriously abide by the results of the poll.

If you're not around for a week, this place will be a ghost town. I do not have time right now to keep this place the giggle-a-minute laff riot that it currently is. I am attempting to get a long-worked-upon game finished, I am in the process of moving 45 miles away, I owe Sousa about thirty pages worth of code, I am working for a company about to get purchased by another company with all the headaches, hassles and uncertainties that comes along with it, I am trying to get my current abode into some semblance of shape that will give me even a portion of my security deposit back, I have two nights obliterated each week for softball so I don't turn into some sort of doughy lump, and I have a brother who has a car that cannot literally go more than thirty minutes without needing a fucking jump.

So, obviously, I am quite grateful to Ben "Pinback" Parrish for keeping this place from becoming a useless, worthless pock mark on the fresh, Noxemaed face of the Internet while I sort through all this other crap.

Additionally, in my opinion, it's extremely bush league of yourself to post this poll and if you were any more of a drama queen you'd have posted this thread in high heels and a skirt.

I agree. I don't think Ben properly anticipated some people's delight with him in comedy, and dissatisfaction with him a la pathos.

We need a sort of "Pinback Monthly Charmer" or something that collects all his happy posts and keeps them as a seperate database from his nasty ones.

I swear, you would ALL be better off if I took a week off from here. This place would be better, you would be better, and when I came back, I would be better.

Well, sure, if that's what you want, pretend I changed my vote. I don't really care, but I think that people should be doing what they feel is right. While I'm more inclnied to think that it's better to get all the shit out now and try to find a balance naturally, if you think it's better to go away for a bit, go ahead.
