[RECIPE] Somalian Tuna Pasta

Post by pinback »

Sure, it's spaghetti night, but your family's tired of that. They've probably already had enough of your tuna pasta as well. Maybe it's time to shake things up and slap down a little...

SOMALIAN TUNA PASTA

INGREDIENTS
===========
Small diced onion
3-4 minced garlic cloves
2 tbsp olive oil
1 can quality tuna, drained
2 tbsp spice mix: 1 tbsp cumin, 1/2 tbsp turmeric, 1/4 tbsp cinnamon, 1/4 tbsp coriander or cardamom or allspice or whatever eastern-sounding spice you have on hand
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 jar spaghetti sauce
Spaghetti

DIRECTIONS
==========
1. In a saucepan, saute onion in olive oil, season with salt and pepper. Toward the end, add in the garlic.
2. Add tuna to pan, break up into chunks.
3. Add spice mix, stir for a minute until the spices wake up
4. Add cilantro and spaghetti sauce
5. Stir, bring to simmer.
6. Cook spaghetti.
7. Put sauce over spaghetti.

Now you're eatin' SOMALIAN TUNA PASTA!

My wife and I gave it a solid A. Mina gave it an F minus. Everyone's a food critic.

You lost me at Somalia. It makes me think of starvation and military coups. Not something a person wants from comfort food.

I get it, there are some places in the world the mere mention of can kill your appetite.

Kinda the same reason I stay away from "Rochester pizza".

I'm more bothered that you didn't just make a tuna casserole with egg noodles. I can't think of a worse protine to add to a speghetti dish.

I'm actually impressed and a little jealous of your culinary skills. I just wanted to bust your chops so I don't sound like a faboi.

Some of those words were spelled correctly.
