cohost.org is shutting down

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

You couldn't see who people were following, which lets you follow them. And build up your account.

Bad call. That was a bad decision. I guess I was just supposed to guess usernames until people signed up.

Bye.

I never heard of it until this post, which shows the kind of popularity it has. I browsed the wiki and it sounded like a decent idea. No ads!

Cohost.org was semi-popular in the (very small) journalism circles I'm part of however I think there is a breaking off from social media overall to subscriber solutions such as Substack (and Ghost if they ever get their business model together) instead of another Twitter competitor who is "doing it right this time."
