Mario Adventure III (SMB3 hack)

This is a huge ROM hack that is at least 12 years in the making. I still recall the day my grandfather bought me Super Mario Bros 3 for 34.99$ at Zayre very fondly. The changes between Super Mario Bros and this game (SMB2 in the USA wasn't originally a Mario game) blew me away back then. Playing this ROM gives me much the same vibe.

Sure, it's difficult but you gain experience points the more you play to gradually make things easier. Yes, Dark Souls style grinding in a Mario game haha! There are many new suits including a "Ninja suit" that allows you to throw stars and easily triangle-jump. Tons of hidden things to unlock, different enemies, a weather system, a daylight system, the list just goes on and on.

If you enjoyed SMB3 back in the day I strongly recommend this game. The only requirements are you need a modern emulator or an Everdrive with the latest firmware to support the mappers and all. I'm in the latter group. With old firmware all I got was a grey screen, but using the latest from like 2020 started the game fine.
