Choices: A galaxy far far up your ass.

Post by Worm »

It seems I have three choices in Star Wars gaming.

The first would be Jedi Outcast ... Sequel to Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II which I really dug and still own. Probably, just a boring FPS but Kyle was pretty cool in the first one ... though they probably didn't hire the actor from the first one hell they probably didn't even do the cutscenes in live action cinematics. Though you at most fought only a couple of Jedi and most of all the bosses were FUN I am predicting all this carries over.

Then, I've got KOTOR. I heard I'm not even allowed to fight in this game. That seems pretty crappy ... it though is a RPG which makes sense ... I guess. I heard it has a cute little "threaten" thing in the dialogue which might make me a little happy. Though, it's an RPG and it's going to feel like sitting Dragon's Lair or Night trap.

Last, there is Jedi Academy. I guess I'll get different ending depending on what skills you choose (that really shows your colors) as oppossed to if I am an asshole or not. The lightsaber fighting is pretty cool. It doesn't seem that ALL the levels are going to be precision jumping but a few are. The other thing I can't stand is that I am offing about twenty Sith a level I thought the force was supposed to be genetic, rare, or some crap. I don't even see why they have guns in this game ... nobody is going to want to use them. Cheesey use of the force powers can make the levels really quite easy and any "puzzle" it seems is thwarted by force sense ... one of your special abilities.

All I really want to do is load up Jedi Knight:Dark Forces II again.

I'm pissed I don't have enough time for KOTOR anymore. Hell, I don't have time for anything and there's tons of cool shit being released.

My favorite part of KOTOR is indeed punking people out and just all around being a ripe bastard. It's great not having to play the normal RPG pretty boy role... just fuck shit up.

I love how it does the whole Moral thing; you can't just wonder into everyone's houses and take their credits; I mean, you can, but you steadily heave over to the Dark Side & Being Treated Like An Asshole if you do. It's cool. A few hundred credits, or letting this woman you've never seen before in your life buy some bread? 'Tis cool.

So KOTOR is looking like a winner? Anyone in Kyle's Corner?

OR you could choose the actual Star Wars RPG, like, not the moniter computer playstation RPG, but the one with dice and character sheets. Once upon a time I played that one, and I shall never forget my wonderful adventures with a brilliant character named R2FU =)

I have enough trouble getting my friends to play me in Tekken 4 or beat my high score on Top Skater. I could never get the shits to sit down and play a PnP game.

It seems Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast are the same engine. I think the only difference is how the force powers work. So no one else has strong KOTOR feelings.

Well, I have every intention of buying KOTOR when it comes out for the PC. I guess it reviewed well and stuff. I mean, here, quick decision, which did you like more:

Planescape: Torment or Half-Life

You're comparing apples and ovaries here, anyway.

Wait, what was with the snap decision to replace "nutsacks" with "ovaries"?

Though as I went on through the post I realized which choice felt right. How many hours does KOTOR promise?

Assonance and the fact that "ovaries" and "oranges" kind of sound alike. Plus, botanically speaking, apples are ovaries, so there was kind of an inside joke there for anyone wearing a pocket protector while they surf the BBS. But the better option didn't occur to me until after I'd hit "submit".

I cannot find this information anywhere (and by "anywhere" I of course mean the "on the official website").

I am dissapointed that my girlfriend decided to shut down her website, Mad Gamers, because now I no longer have access to new games two months before they come out.

:(

Except for Halo 2, which I'm promised'll appear a couple months before Official Release.

C'mon people!!!!
We are missing out on the 2 of the biggest games ever in this little gaming query. First of all there is Meta Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater coming out within the next 6 months, then there is Gran Turismo 4. Now I knwow that MGS3 will probably only take like 10-15 hours, but lets just say I am stil playing and trying to get all the cars in Gran Turismo 3, I have already laid down a good 60+ hours...I rest my case.

Or your third and fourth choices, a played out "stealth" franchise, and an old racing game for the PS2!
