Thirty years ago there was a Russian movie called "Solaris". A deeply moving, emotional, beautifully done science fiction movie, the likes of which only one other movie (2001) has been made. The story moved desperately slowly, but it wasn't about the story, it was about the sights, the sounds, the mood, the emotions. Really, an astounding piece of work.
Now, I see, it has been remade by Steven Soderbergh, he of the well-made and well-received _Traffic_, and starring George Clooney.
Couple comments on this:
1. I like George Clooney a lot, and hope that he does well in this film.
2. I hope there's some SEMBLANCE of the mysterious, quiet, looming, eerie nature of the original film. "They just don't make 'em like that anymore," but it would be nice if they did. I hope this doesn't come out like another space/sci-fi/suspense/thriller with a romantic subplot. That's not what Solaris is about, by a long shot.
3. I am cautiously optimistic. I really hope it's great.
4. (But deep in my heart, I know it's going to suck.)
Anyone else jazzed over the pending release of this film? (Nov. 27)

Having never heard of this Solaris film of yours, I am intrigued and which to learn more.
Additionally: didn't Soderbergh just remake Ocean's 11? This is like Steve Howe playing "The Clap" everytime it's time for him to perform a song by himself while Yes is on tour. Fuck, no, it's not like that really, but only kind of. Nevermind.
