Does Clarke explain how the earth isn't completely ruined and inhospitable when he turns Jupiter into a second star? Because seriously, what the fuck. I want to know if he addresses this before I ever go to read the novels.

I have it from a good source that most of Clarke's material was inspired by his love for young boys.

Ah, so Jupiter turning into the Sun can be said to be a metaphor for testicles dropping, after which, I'm sure Clarke had no interest. I bet Sun-Jupiter is like never referred to afterwards.
