Ending Sentence Failures

The trend I have noticed in my area is the failure for sentences to end. This has slowly become more and more irksome to me. So instead of doing anything about it, I will rant here.

Here's what happens. You (or me, as it were) are talking to someone and they say something like:

Vark] Hey, what are you doing later?

Someone] "I was going to go to the mall, so.........."

Vark] Could you give my grandmother a ride?

Someone] Well, my car was working, but........."

Vark] I'll have a burger with everything.

Someone] would you like fries with that, or........"

It seems to be important to stress and lengthen the last word so there is no need to add useless additional words in order to actually complete the thought. Vocally, 'Or' sounds like 'OOOOOooaaaaaarrrrrr and 'But', sounds like 'Buuuuuuuuuttttttt'. Sometimes 'or ' can sound like 'Uuuuuuuurrrrr'. that might be a regional thing, however. As I don't move about the country much I wouldn't know.

It seems to be some kind of reduced expressionism. The speaker gives you the basis of the sentence and it's up to you (or me) to intuit the ending summary. I usually think the sentence completion without actually saying anything. Such as:

Vark] "Can you work late?"

Someone] I usually leave at five, so........"

Vark] [thinking] So that means you are a lazy fucker that just wants to get home in time for Judge Judy and pork rinds.

Anyway, I've noticed it more and more and it annoys me.

Well, I'd end my sentences if I knew a punch in the face was coming, so........?

No, just kidding, I wouldn't respond by giving the same shit back to you. This is pretty infuriating. I am reminded of that one Knuckles post that went, "Current words and phrases that confound me." While I didn't stumble over any of his examples, I do notice the never ending, drawn-out sentence.

I've also noticed that, in business, if you are the first one in, you don't necessarily get the credit from groupthink about the long hours you spend at the job. People only seem to notice who is still working when they leave.
