Left 4 Dead is amazing as well

I get the sense that if the game ever slowed down enough for me to take a screenshot, the screenshots would be pretty amazing.

Left 4 Dead is definitely the best zombie game I have played in a while. You can order it now and get access to the demo. I played with some guys from Caltrops tonight, and it just really is a lot of fun. I am also willing to change my mind on voice chat when you keep the game to only three other players plus yourself.

If you pre-order, it's $44.99 - great price for a great game. I was not able to get to the end of the demo tonight on "expert." (And advanced is way too easy. Hmm.)

It is my understanding that Left 4 Dead is out and about. I downloaded it last night... looks like it is all set.

I don't know if I am going to have a chance to play it before I leave. So what will happen is that all of you will meditate on it, know exactly what needs to happen to solve the game (and the health packs go to the bold) and then make me look like a drooling sped when I play it for the first time.

Amazingly, none of this is particularly negative. The fun is in the voice chat, anyway.

The difficulty was way better in the demo, it's now horrible.

No, the closer you get to the finale the more you need to drop your difficulty. Since the finale levels are big and open the AI can go nuts spawning zombies behind a building you just walked past and shit. I'm just about to watch all the endings on youtube and go back to playing versus exclusively.

I demand you not get sick of this until I get back from NY. I would install it on my laptop, but I think a touchpad would be an even worse device to play it with than a trackball. And the trackball is unfortunately not negotiable.

Also!!! Trying to get a frigging screenshot in a Steam game is way more difficult than it needs to be. This is why there are a billion Fallout 3 shots floating around on here (from me) and fewer L4D ones.

Well I have all these assignments in QT that I was hoping to get done over thanksgiving. Have you ever designed a interface in QT? It's basically like any other interface design except you do it with C++ and you get segmentation faults, making the worst motherfucking thing in the world.

I also like that the term "operator" is making a comeback with this game, as "operator," for arcade fans, is the name of the guy who runs the arcade and who (in stereotypes) thinks you're scum for wanting to buy games from him.

Can't you just bind screenshot to a key in the control configuration?

You know something, I never could get Steam to work. Being a huge fan of the first Half-Life games I was one of those who couldn't wait till HL2 came out and so I was at Wallmart the day it hit the shelves. I got it home and installed it but could not play it because I couldn't get Steam to work for me.

I tried and tried and tried and searched for others online having the same problems. There seemed to be a lot of complaints about Steam but I could find no workable solution. So I gave up on it when I finally was so frustrated and fucking pissed off that I no longer had any desire to play it. I've never bought another expensive modern game since and never will.

Probably for the best though. It was kind of like the last straw that pushed me over the edge back into my obsession with retro gaming where I was already leaning to begin with. If thats what it takes to play the latest games you can keep em, I'm perfectly happy sticking to the good old simple classic stuff.

Pretty soon I won't have much of a choice. Even now there are already games, such as Fallout 3, which I wouldn't mind trying out which require more ram and processor power than I have. Time is on my side though. I know from experience that eventually todays high end computer will find its way to the bargain bins or eBay. Thats usually around the time I start upgrading. And by then there are usually hacks and cracks to play games like HL2 with out requiring all the bullshit it required when it came out.
